I believe it’s because some are brand new and some aren’t. The hats caught my eye earlier but I don’t think that is abnormal. Some guys rotate in a new hat more often than others.

I would but I fail every time. I’d hate to fail him again. Show me an easy way and I’ll post a few of my buddy tomorrow.
Lost my best friend today.

Had to put my best friend in the world down today. 14 year old catahoula. Killed a many of squirrels on top of him and he blood trailed a many of deer.
None of that really matters because he was a family dog. He could be an absolute savage in the woods and then let my son try to rip his nuts off without him doing anything. He loved children and loved us. He didn’t think he was a dog but he was a savage in the field. Truly one of a kind.
If the lord has a heart, and I think he does. Our paw palls will be in heaven when we get there. My great grandfather was an old school catahoula man. I think he’d be proud to hunt my dog and maybe he’s already with him.
Love your dogs gentleman. The end comes quickly.

Thanks brother. The strongest steel is forged in the hottest fires.

I don’t usually post here but I wanted to tip my hat to you fellas. I enjoy reading yalls posts.
I live in south Louisiana and have a Hispanic significant other. All I have heard today, from church at 8 am to winding down tonight, is Trump is the man.
Our church had a special prayer this morning. The Hispanic side of my family just wants to talk about how badass trump is, and my African American neighbor just wants to drink beer and listen to patriotic music.
I say all that to say this, the country has changed and it’s united. Dammit do I love it.
Dear Facebook….love yall. Take it easy on me if ya would.

I have AT&T cell service and can no longer make calls in pvill off 73. Seems to happen anytime we have any abnormally high wind.
Haven’t lost power or internet though.

re: New construction house advice
Posted by MidSwerve32 on 4/29/23 at 9:54 pm to bayoutiger225
I’m fairly crafty and grew up in construction so I’m tempted to skimp on some finishes like flooring if it gets me to the floor plan and price point I want. I feel like I can upgrade a lot of things over the years if I get my floor plans right.
Am I seeing that wrong?

New construction house advice
Posted by MidSwerve32 on 4/29/23 at 4:06 pm
Im looking into trying to build a house on some family land. I know it’s a bad time based on interest rates and construction costs but I honestly don’t see it getting any better.
Current house is just too small and we see that our quality of neighbors is deteriorating due to most of the houses becoming rent houses.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’m currently thinking we would need around 1,800-2,000 sq ft to be happy. Again, this is family land so this would be a forever home.
Any advice on reputable GC’s, types of houses, finishings, or otherwise would help me wrap my head around it a little more.
LP area.

God gives you one good dog.
My catahoula was the ugly solid black with brindle socks and a tornado looking white chest. No one wanted him.
Now he’s protected my son from countless human and natural dangers. He was supposed to die at 6 with worms and now he’s 12.
My old man now protects chickens and hunts coyotes and I couldn’t be more proud of the life he fought for.
He hunts well on coons, anything that smells similar to a coon, squirrels, will run a deer for a thousand yards and come back, will rip the throat out of a hog, and he’s even retrieved ducks.
He’s hell when hell shows itself and he’s love more love than needed when all of the grandkids are here. My son treats him as a guide to my property.
If this is my best dog, I’m thankful.

South Texas Dove hunt/bachelors trip
Posted by MidSwerve32 on 7/15/22 at 8:58 pm
Hey guys, I’m a regular lurker but I don’t post much. With that being said, I am trying to plan a bachelor trip and at this point our options are as follows:
-grand isle: bow fishing/trout
-Midwest duck hunt: not looking to break the bank so this is almost out.
-South Texas dove hunt: we would be looking for a ranch to stay at.
-Missouri mallard hunt: the guys would be very disappointed to spend the money to go there and shoot a wood duck.
If anyone has any insight on this please let me know. The wedding is in December so we have some time.

Any of y’all have the Pirelli Scorpion all terrain plus?
I may end up getting a set. Price is hard to beat and I like the look. Was wandering if any of y’all have tried them yet.

re: Bats will come around. I have a funny feeling about this team.

Although pitching is a bit rocky, they’ve held their own. The bats have killed us this weekend. OP is trying to say we have a strong lineup and the bats will turn on.

re: Underarmour base layers

Outer layers have to be fire retardant so it’s essentially cotton, I assume. So I’ll be fricked in anything wet but I can stay in my office with any precipitation. Mainly concerned about being miserable to go outside to check on projects we have.

Which ones did you have? 2.0, 3.0, or 4.0?

Yeah, I just bought what I could. I don’t have much natural insulation so I wanted to make sure I could be somewhat comfortable outside.

I bought the 2.0 thermals for next week since I have to be in the field a fair amount with work. Is the 2.0 suitable for a 20-40 temperature range? I was afraid if I bought the 3.0 I wouldn’t be able to ever use it when I go hunting. Also, what’s yalls opinion on them? I feel like I just paid a premium price for something I could have bought for a lot cheaper.

Smoking Whiskey
Posted by MidSwerve32 on 1/23/21 at 8:27 pm
Has anyone here tried to put some whiskey on the smoker and add flavor? I’ve talked to some guys from Tennessee that say it’s amazing but I’m not sure how to even attempt it. I love putting stuff on my smoker and enjoy the flavors I get from it but I’ve never thought to try something like that.
