Hate to school yeah Boderah, but the Wilson Dam, built on the Tennessee River between Colbert & Lauderdale Counties and right in the heart of the Florence, Muscle Shoals area) was opened in 1924 and construction began on it in 1918 during Woodrow Wilson’s administration. The TVA wouldn’t be created until May 18, 1933, a full 15 after construction began and nine years after it opened. The dam would come to fall under TVA control after it was created. The damn is not particularly small as the lock lift is the largest one east of the Mississippi.
