They should have let the girls family do to him what they will. If they decide he should have lived so be it... Real justice
No, that is not justice.

Wonder if his victim ever got the chance to graduate.... quote: But on Friday, Hundley turned his tassel at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center, signifying his graduation from LSU with honors — a far cry from Louisiana State Penitentiary at Angola, where he served the majority of his murder sentence. Well he didn’t serve the “majority” of his murder sentence, because he should have served life. quote: Hundley, a native of Eunice, was convicted of second-degree murder in the 1997 slaying of 14-year-old Terry Elizabeth Pitre, whose body was found burned and badly beaten behind a grocery store on La. 13 in Mowata, a small community 10 miles north of Crowley. Hundley was 15 at the time of the killing. Convicted as an adult despite his age, Hundley was sentenced to mandatory life without parole. “Despite his age”. There is a reason why juveniles can be tried as adults for certain crimes, and what he did is Exhibit ‘A’. quote: Two decades later, Hundley, afforded his opportunity at parole, focused on getting back into the classroom as well as helping those he left behind in prison. How about his 14 year old victim he continually beat to unconsciousness then death? Then burned her body. Nope...help those he “left behind” in Angola. Screw The Advocate for parading this animal around as some sort of feel good story
No, trying a child as an adult is unconstitutional. You can’t make a law saying a 15-year-old is a minor and then make him an adult. JLWOP is ending because a new generation is taking over. One that is more interested in justice than revenge, and one that wants courts dispensing real justice instead of using victims and offenders to line their pockets. The US has the largest prison population in the world. Even countries like Russia doesn’t sentence kids to die in prison. This largely started because of racism and fear. So many of those doing JLWOP are African-American, and they still suffer the worst from these harsh punishments. This was all brought on by a now-debunked “juvenile superpredator” myth that began to spread in the 80s and 90s. This sent frightened older generations to the polls to make it easier to try kids as adults. Those older generations are dead and dying out now and the generations they screwed are taking over. No one is disparaging the victims. But justice is not supposed to be one-sided and restorative justice works much better. This nazi Nancy Grace-style justice system is over with.

The fact is a just society would've executed him back then. Nothing personal or emotional to it. It's simply a restoration of balance. Allowing him to live to the point of creating new moral conundrums surrounding his ongoing treatment and handling is an injustice imposed upon the rest of society in general and the victim's family specifically.
Well sorry, this is America not North Korea.

Bc black convicts never get paroled
Pretty much, the whole reason why JLWOP came into existence in the US in the first place is because of racism.
quote:
It sure is, but it's not unconstitutional.
Actually it is. The law recognizes a 15-year-old as a minor.

This guy got out because he was 17 not because of money. The POS that Killed Rick Whitener missed being 18 by one fricking day. They had to let him go. Nuts.
He was 15 when he committed the crime and 17 when sentenced. You self-righteous, vengeful people don’t even know all the facts and yet you are rambling on. No one is condoning what he did, but he was a child too. The child he killed is no longer suffering, and making him suffer for life isn’t going to bring her back.
