Very good interview in the WSJ last weekend with James Q. Wilson that first advocated for the theory. It is very effective.

re: China's economy really starting to falter...

Until I read this thread my impression from reading the media and various economic articles was that China's economic growth was slowing to something like 6%. Now I know because Trinidad and Bamarep have said it that China's economy is near collapse and if they don't get a deal with the President there will be widespread starvation there.
I wonder when the fake news will add those guys as sources??

Thanks for straightening me out with such a good quality, fact filled post.
I was mislead by this article. Food Accounts for only 6.7% of imports in China and 5.9% of Imports in the USA
You should contact them and tell them to quit their misinformation campaign and instead publish your posts.
I am sure a lot of people are going to be surprised to hear that the trade deficit between the US and China is going to disappear because Trump is going to sell them a bunch of food like you said.

re: Pros and Cons of steel vs wood frame shop

Labor on a steel building will probably be less and you can buy high wind loads that would be hard to build with wood. With the new tariffs on steel I am not sure the cost vs. wood.
I will point out one thing--when using steel height is cheap. A 20 ft eve height is not much more expensive than a 16 foot.

So Mr. Trump will protect us from Chinese made televisions that spy on us??? I understand. (My TV is a LG--do you think it is helping someone spy on me?? Will a picture of me watching in my drawers show up on the inter webs?)
You also point out that under Trump they will buy more food from us than we will buy advanced goods from them ending the trade deficit. I understand.
Thanks to you for your best efforts in response. Clearly in the eyes of all who read this post you are unique in your knowledge of this situation.

Mr. Trinidadtiger or BamaRep, what do you think the trade deficit will be with China in 2019?

I am interested to know which country has the higher economic growth rate the US or China?
It would also be interesting to know how much exports from China to the US have gone down under Trump? Have exports from China to other countries gone down?
Thank you in advance for that information.

I guess you can’t explain it. Sorry I upset you.

I am not a dam but I cannot connect the DOTS. Nobody tonight has explained it to me.
Can you??
How does correcting trade imbalances save us any money for example?
What do you think the trade deficit will be with Mexico after the USMCA is signed?
Thanks in advance for your intelligent, fact filled response.

I want to see Mr. Azkiger post more facts to support his ideas than 90proof can post to support his.
They could do it at Sonic.

From my observations MrSDVTiger you really keep your posts short and sort of elementary. I can sense you are really a very smart guy and one day you will actually post something that adds meaningful content to a thread. There is no reason to do it in every post.
Do you have any pointers for other flamers you can share with the board?
Perhaps you have insight into what Mr. Trump was referring to in the tweet from the OP?
Thanks

Who cares? Hey stop aid to Egypt for just 4 years there ya go. Good?
Yes. I wonder why he didn't tweet that??? Maybe he can end his new foreign aid bureaucracy he created too. He should tweet those things.
Do you think he believes his avid followers will believe anything???
Mr. Bamarep I think you should probably deal with facts instead of your impressions while traveling. There is no reason to risk tainting the reputation you have built in post after post here.

Why would you say something like that about the President?? Is it because of his vague tweet that seems to be unfounded? Well unfounded might be an unfair word to use. Perhaps his tweet can be specifically explained by a better read audience than we have here.
quote:
Of the billions collected by our government, please tell me specifically where that money is going?
I don't know.
quote:
All we have to do is have Congress allocate the money for the wall.
I thought the President tweeted Mexico was paying for the wall.
I am confused.
quote:
Want me to keep going?
Yes please and some good links would be very helpful.
I was under the impression too that the 75% of NA requirement you speak of means US, MX or CA so I am not clear as to how this discourages manufacturers from building in Mexico. Can you clear that up for me? I think it means the cars cannot have more than 25% of components made outside the USMCA countries.
Anyway I am still not clear how this has anything to do with what the President tweeted about Mexico paying for the wall.
Do you think he exaggerates sometimes???
And you are correct.
quote:
I find it funny that the same side who wants less taxes, more free enterprise and less government interference wants a wall which will cost more tax dollars, give the government more power and takes away free enterprises way of dealing with this issue.
Do you think the Trump supporters here are representatives of people who want less taxes, more enterprises and less government interference??
I must have the wrong impression from my months of lurking. I have seen the people on this board support everything Mr. Trump proposes including prosecuting private business they disagree with, imposing tariffs on American consumer in the name of protectionism, massive increases in government spending on the military and farm welfare and even the establishment of new government agencies like the Space Force and the IDFC (a foreign aid bureaucracy he supported starting with $60 billion.)
You know it just dawned on me the foreign aid President Trump intends on giving away with this new agency would build the wall. I wonder if he plans on offering the democrats a deal to scrape the IDFC and use the money on the wall??
quote:
Why don't you read the USMCA and get back with us.
You speak with such authority and certainty I mistakenly thought you could explain it.
I apologize if I made you uncomfortable.
I am not familiar with exactly what a "fricktard" is.
It appears I have upset you. I am fine with the wall.
President Trump in his tweet today talked vaguely about how the wall will be financed. Is he a "fricktard"?

I would be very interested in your thoughtful, specific analysis of the math.
