LSU hangout in Oregon
Posted by puhtost on 8/25/14 at 1:47 pm
Just moved to Oregon and hoping there is a good place to watch the LSU game. Salem, Portland, Eugene, Bend, doesn't matter. Anyone know of a good spot?

I'd be good with and in. This just strikes me as too good to pass up. I could also see something with the Chicfila cows...
Or a 'Murica :usa:

I don't think the problem is that there is an SEC Championship. The problem is that there is an SEC Championship game in a system that has flaws on multiple levels.
A proper playoff system would alleviate some, but I think there needs to be more common sense when it comes to teams like Florida this year and Alabama last year. If you don't make it into your conference championship, then you should be in the back of the line when BCS bowls are selecting teams.
But more on point with the original intent of the topic, I might be the only LSU fan that won't be devastated if we go to the Peach instead of the Cotton. They sell friggin Chick fila sandwiches at the game! :nana:

No, I missed my train and I am this running late. Time has my permission to run at a snails pace!

Missed the train I wanted to catch getting into Penn right at kickoff. ARG!
Sound like a plan! Geaux Tigers!
I live in Jersey near Princeton. This is our first season living outside of LA so we're pretty jacked about finding a good spot to watch the games.

Watching Game in NYC

Wife and I are making our first trip to Legends in NYC to watch the game. I hear it's a good place for LSU fans. Anyone else here been there/plan on going?

I think JJ was being considered, but when the Leeophiles got wind of it they threw a hissy fit so loud the voters decided it wasn't worth the trouble.

I'm going to be in Princeton for the NC game. Anyone know a good place to watch, preferably around other LSU fans?
Thanks :geauxtigers:

Stupid Heisman Question
Posted by puhtost on 12/10/11 at 12:19 pm
Does the winner have to receive the majority of votes, or just the largest plurality? Or do they vote their top three and they count down the list until a winner receives a majority?
The reason I ask is that while I doubt TM7 could win outright, I could see where he would be the 2nd choice for a lot of voters.
Sorry for the ignorance.

So you want to penalize teams because their conference has no title game. You have just eliminated half of the field before the season starts
Yes. This is meant to quell the cries of teams like Boise State and other non-automatic qualifiers. I think that in this day and age there is a correlation between the strength of a conference and whether or not they have a conference championship. Also this would serve as an incentive for more conferences to create championship games, leveling the playing field.

If they go to Atl and lose to a GA team on a fluke, they are out.
You are correct sir.

What if the 3 and 4 team have a controversy, do they then play?
No, because if I understand what you are saying then there is no controversy on who is number 2. Since this is only meant to figure out who belongs in the NC, figuring out who is 3 and 4 would be a moot point.
ya, ya, ya... spelling isn't my forte.

A Layman's Attempt at Curbing BCS Controversy
Posted by puhtost on 12/9/11 at 1:04 am
I know that I am probably a little late to the prom on this, but I've been trying to think of a way that would solve the BCS system without having to entirely scrap our current bowl system, but would offer a compromise to those that wish to see a playoff system.
First, let me say that I understand that this doesn't solve all of the problems with the BCS. There are still potential problems with the way the BCS rankings are computed, but it seems that years where the BCS seems to fail it is due to trying to figure out who the number 2 team should be in the NC.
That said, this is what I am thinking:
1.) To qualify, a team must be in a conference that has a conference championship.
2.) A team must win their conference.
3.) In the event that there is "controversy" between the 2nd and 3rd ranked teams, an additional game should be played on the field of higher ranked team within 14 days of completion of their conference championships.
My logic is that since the majority of problems come from placing the #2 and #3 teams, playing an additional game when there is not a consensus on who should play for the BCS NC would settle that and would act as a semi-final.
Thoughts?
btw- this is my first post on the rant, looking forward to posting a whole lot more!

Welfare Bowl
Posted by puhtost on 12/5/11 at 5:27 pm
Hey, long time stalker of this site, first time posting. First let me just say that the work that all of you do is just downright awesome. If it wasn't for the Fark Board, I have no idea what I would do to avoid actually doing stuff at work.
I had an idea for a Fark that you guys might want to run with. I was thinking of doing something along the lines of the "Welfare Bowl," maybe make it look like a BCS bowl logo like the Sugar, Orange, etc. Alluding to the fact that Alabama is getting a shot at the BCS championship without actually having to win anything, etc. etc.
Anyway, if y'all thing it's a good idea please run with it, I would love to see what you all come up with.
On that note, thanks again for all of the Farks. Hopefully I'll be able to start contributing some of my own!
