Hey genius, you an LSU fan?

no, and after this I'm glad I'm not.

You have my word I won't be active on this page after this but something about your 500 posts seems like that's not the case for you. See you on Sept 2 ahole.
It's okay, I had to google who mitch was :P

If they had a picture of the driver too, ticket my drivers license in a system that requires me to pay across state lines I would but not some made up bs to make money.

you won't get ticketed for going 1mph over

Lol you're an alabama fan on an LSU page you sound like a moron.

Anyone that has told me to pay hasn't given me a reason to do so and usually insulted me in the process.

And no one has had given me any type of ramification for not paying, sorry I'm not stupid enough to blindly hand over money. Car owner and I have plenty to talk about.

and when you do miss the speed change sign, you will possibly get a ticket for breaking the law..... I don't get your point

My point isn't that you shouldn't possibly get a ticket. A cop should pull you over and give you a ticket.

But driving around for 5-10 hours a day (yes that's what the drivers I ubered with in NO told me they worked) and constantly worrying about if I am even going 1mph (yes only 1mph and the cameras can tag you for a $75 ticket) past a mobile unit is insane.

what's the difference in worrying about if a cop is around if you are breaking the law?

Lol anyone can miss a speed change sign you don't have to be an ahole, try driving around as much as uber drivers do (especially in NO) and tell me you wouldn't worry about it.

The ones that agreed with you were helpful. The other opinions, you disregard.

Exactly what opinions did I miss that weren't insulting?

You guys realize the person that has their name on the car received and opened the letter, I'm not pulling any sneaky bs.

I'm a college student and made an account on this page because I thought a similar crowd of people that I interact with pages like this at FSU would help me out. I literally have not had any interactions from anyone from LSU EVER and majority of people that responded to this made me really glad I haven't. To those that genuinely responded I really appreciate it.

Well, I would be if I was a guy.

My bad, you're a cool aunt.

Someone else earlier assumed I was a guy and I'm not :)
quote:

Well, the speed limit would be 20

Okay mine was 35 so definitely not then. You're a cool uncle though.

I might have the car owner just say it was me so whatever happens (which doesn't sound like anything) would affect only me. I'm glad to hear there's an email option.

Like I said earlier I'm paying for the car and obviously in contact with the person that has their name on the car. Whatever I do is with their agreement, but they have similar feelings about automated tickets.

Thank you.

I lived through exactly this hell. They told FL they were installing red light cameras for our safety, sure. Find out later they also shortened the length of yellow lights too and that's part of the reason they're not around anymore. But they encountered the same issue I am in now, they didn't set the cameras to take a picture of the driver and plate, they only cared about the plate because that's where the money was.

I'm an uber driver and I can't imagine driving and constantly worrying about if a mobile unit is around and missing a sign, if I can do anything to end this garbage I want to because its ridiculous.

There were 3 photos of the car and two of them had the school zone sign with speed in them.

I can't explain to you how bad these photos are of my car. You couldn't make out a detail more than the plate and back of the car, the side and all surroundings are a bright blur. I guess mine wasn't school zone since it didn't specify though.
quote:

Everytime you look down and notice yourself going over the speed limit mail a check to the same court house. The person that was cited is innocent and you do not have to self incriminate yourself so why should he just take the blame and pay?

I bet if these people had cameras following them and got fines in the mail for all the laws they broke they wouldn't be so quick to say pay up.

For rocket31
I don't consciously speed, never gotten a speeding ticket. Since I was going exactly 10 over I feel like I missed a speed change sign, like I said I had never been to NO and drove around only during the instance this ticket happened.
quote:

Have you even gone to the site on the ticket to see what the affidavit says regarding another person driving the car. Was there more than one person in the car at the time? If so, the owner may no know who was driving. I've never looked at the affidavit, but the owner has the option to contest by mail, but again, the affidavit could result in the owner having to lie. Just depends on how it's worded.

That is my next step, I wanted opinions before I dug into what the laws actually say.

For your friend that got the ticket in the school zone, did it say in a school zone specifically on the ticket? I only remember driving by "photo enforced school zone" signs but school was out while we were visiting and I've been wondering if that's the case for me.

I have never once ever been threatened with collections

This is what I was hoping for, I knew the credit could be removed (since I didn't agree to pay like you said) but I didn't want to dig that hole and force the car owner to dig out.

Not paying and have no plans to visit Italy again.

Yikes... I wish I had an ocean between my issue and I would be much more confident in not paying. I'll be back to new orleans...just not until I buy a new car

I think they should be that way everywhere, but you're not in Kansas anymore.

LOL

We only had red light cameras and those were out about a year after they were installed, after reading a few articles about the current lawsuits I hope you guys are heading that way too.

I'm just wanted some local opinions on the matter, and luckily yours and a few others were helpful. If we end up deciding ignoring the matter isn't what we want to do, I'm going to fight it. I'd rather pay more for a lawyer than give a handout and that way the uncertainty would be lifted from the car owner.
quote:

These tickets are a scam, a racket, and complete bull shite.

Thank you!

It's a bill not a ticket and these people are reaming me, I appreciate the advice.
quote:

well how about paying the fine from you breaking the law in their vehicle a-hole

I make the car payments the car is just not in my name but thank you.

Sorry I don't feel like giving a handout to your city (actually, only half goes to your city since they outsourced this great idea) when they can't even tell me where I broke the law...that's why having actual police instead of a camera is much more effective :moon:
quote:

Since it's a city issued ticket (speeding) it will affect credit

Even if it was a camera speeding ticket? I know there's no way to avoid actual tickets since those cross state lines but this a ticket on the license plate not on anyone's license.
quote:

You didn't die, consider 110$ an insurance bill

So you're saying you should pay your insurance $110 every day you dont die?
quote:

This is true in most places, but not in New Orleans if the car returns there and is spotted parked, it could get booted. If the person who got the ticket in the mail never intends to go to New Orleans, no worries-chunk it, but if does, he risks being booted.

I got one dismissed. If you were not driving the vehicle, there is a question asking if you know who was and you provide that info. I suppose he could lie and say he doesn't know.

Thank you for kindly responding.

That's what I figured, but I had seen some other people mention it could affect credit. I wish instead of insulting me or my intelligence people would realize that I'm legitimately trying to avoid getting the person this was mailed to in any trouble. But I don't agree with camera "tickets" and they are unconstitutional where I live which furthers my disdain for possibly having to pay this.
