Most coaches are generally the same when it comes to bowl preparation. You get about three weeks of practice, so they use the first week much like the first couple of weeks of training camp. There is a ton of individual work where th basics are re-emphasized. When i was there, saban followed this...

2010 - Auburn/Oregon - undefeated conf. Champs
2009 - Bama/Texas - undefeated conf. Champs
2008 - Florida/Oklahoma - both 1 loss conference champs
2007 - LSU gets in because OU beats Missouri, Pitt beats WVU
2006 - Florida/Ohio State - minor drama but not really because Michigan...
