If you have no hope . . . .
Posted by homesick1934 on 4/30/17 at 6:16 pm
I heard an old, old story
How a Savior came from glory
How He gave His life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me
I heard about His groaning
Of His precious blood’s atoning
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory
O victory in Jesus
My Savior forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood
I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there
The song of victory
O victory in Jesus
My Savior forever
He sought me and bought me
With His redeeming blood
He loved me ere I knew Him
And all my love is due Him
He plunged me to victory
Beneath the cleansing flood
re: Best Overall Car Insurance For Value?

I shop every renewal anniversary, both car and homeowners, and Travelers beat all other national companies. Travelers has 12 month rates on cars, whereas all others only offer 6 month rates. Shop Travelers if you haven't before.
Do you need a friend?
Posted by homesick1934 on 4/22/17 at 4:05 pm
What a friend we have in Jesus
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer
Have we trials and temptations?
Is there trouble anywhere?
We should never be discouraged
Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful
Who will all our sorrows share?
Jesus knows our every weakness
Take it to the Lord in prayer
All our sins and griefs to bear
And what a privilege to carry
Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit
Oh, what needless pain we bear
All because we do not carry
Everything to God in prayer

Non-believers, since I posted this message last night thousands of people wordwide died. If you are reading this, luckily you were not one of them and have been granted another day to live. But you don't know when your time in this world will end; you have been granted another chance by Almighty God to consider the message of Jesus.
Tomorrow is the Sabbath. Find a Christian church that is known to faithfully teach the Gospel of Jesus. If you are not a bible reader, get a modern language version of the new testament and begin to read it.
This subject is heavily on my mind because there is no second chance for a non-believer after death. When you take your last breath your fate is sealed FOREVER. The decision you make about Jesus is no casual "I'll take my chances on life after death."
If you believe there is no God or that Jesus is a myth, have you considered the consequence of being wrong?

I am an old man. I have sinned many times. But the true Christian church is the body of believers, not your local church which may or may not be a good representative of Christianity. The body of believers, the true Christian church, is made up of those souls who have believed in and accepted Jesus as their Lord and Savior. So I am a redeemed sinner, as are all true Christians.
There are many on here expressing skepticism as I expected but maybe someone will think about what I have posted and become a believer. Peace to you.

The "Gospel" means "good news" folks. Yes, Jesus will forgive ANY sin except the sin of unbelief.
Why? Because Jesus paid the sin debt for everyone who believes in Him. You cannot earn forgiveness by doing good works or in any other way. You can receive forgiveness by accepting the sacrifice Jesus made for you on the cross.
I didn't post this to create controversy. We live in very troubled times. Some people on this board may have never heard of Jesus. They have now. God bless you all.

Our Predestined Appointment
Revelation 20:11-15
The moment we were born, a countdown began on our life. Every tick of the clock brings us one step closer to our inescapable appointment with the Lord. Each of us will stand before Him as we approach our eternal destination.
Tragically, there will be shocking disappointment for some. Jesus Himself warned, “Many will say to Me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in Your name ... ?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness’” (Matt. 7:22-23).
The only way to eternal life is through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Truly, our sin has separated us from the Father. But God’s Son provided the solution to this universal problem: Christ lived a perfect life and then died a sinner’s death on the cross at Calvary to pay the penalty each of us owed (Rom. 6:23). After three days, He rose from the grave, defeating death and evil. By accepting His sacrifice on our behalf, we no longer have to live apart from God.
To receive this amazing gift, we must simply believe in Jesus and what He did. As a result, we become new creations (2 Corinthians 5:17), are adopted as God’s children (Eph. 1:5), and enter into a never-ending personal relationship with our Father.
Do you have confidence about where you will spend eternity? You may assume you have time to figure out this important issue, but let me give you some wise advice: Don’t wait another minute to settle the matter, because later may never come. Repent of your sin today, and follow Jesus.

re: Older mostly outdoor cat suddenly won't walk across open spaces
Posted by homesick1934 on 4/8/17 at 11:40 am
He's probably blind or nearly blind. I had a cat that was an inside cat; he started acting the same way as your cat. Took him to the Vet and had to put him away because of incurable problems. He was 17 years old. I cried all the way home because he was my pal. Someone put him out near my house when he was only a few months old. Solid black with yellow eyes; looked just like a miniature Jaguar.
Poster in the Vet's office said cat's years equate to 5 human years; dog's equate to 7 human years.
So my cat was 85 years old.
:wah:

re: Schumer is badly misplaying the Gorsuch nomination

The Dems already changed the rules when they had control in the senate. Why should the majority rule not apply to the supreme court? Republicans would be stupid not to use a simple majority to confirm a Republican nominee. They can change the court to a conservative lean for many years if fairly young judges are selected. Does anyone doubt that Democrats would do this if they had the chance? They changed the rules when it benefitted them; they would certainly do it again.
re: A request for prayers for my sister

Request for mercy and healing for your sister has been made to God Almighty in the name of Jesus. He has been gracious with His healing power for my wife and my son. There is absolutely no doubt that God hears the prayers of His people when they request Divine intervention for someone else. Praise God from Whom all blessings flow. Selah.
re: I Got Rid of Tipping at My Restaurant to Fight Racism
Posted by homesick1934 on 3/15/17 at 4:33 pm
I hate tipping. Just PRICE THE FOOD so that the owner can pay the workers what he thinks each one contributes to the success of the business, based on what the prevailing wage rates are in that area. That puts the owner in control of his labor force and he can pay each worker what that worker is worth to the business.
A pretty blond bimbo with big tits that is friendly and flirtatious but a bumbling server will still get a good tip. A coworker that is ugly as sin but works HIS/HER butt off will not get a tip as good as the bimbo. FACT. But the owner knows which one is the most valuable worker and will pay accordingly (hopefully).

re: Justice in Jackson, Mississippi

I live in Clinton Ms. New houses are being built here at a spectacular rate. I live in a subdivision off of Pinehaven Drive and within a mile of where I live 2 new subdivisions are being built. Windsor Plantation with 173 $300K+ houses planned, Cedar Hill with 73 $300K to $500K houses planned and expansion in Copper Creek ongoing. All the ring cities around Jackson (Clinton, Ridgeland, Madison and Brandon) are growing rapidly. Whites and Blacks are getting out of Jackson as fast as they can.

re: JBE's Medicaid Expansion is going to rape Louisiana's budget situation
Posted by homesick1934 on 2/20/17 at 10:22 pm
If Medicaid was eliminated entirely, as some of you would like, it would result in these former Medicaid patients going to emergency rooms for every ache and pain. It would result in a lot of hospitals going bankrupt because every ER has signs all over the place saying you WILL BE TREATED REGARDLESS OF YOUR ABILITY TO PAY. And who do you think will eventually have to foot the bill?
Medicaid has its faults but some form of it is necessary because (1) a compassionate society has an obligation to care for truly indigent people and(2) we are going to end up paying for them anyway.

re: Anybody else feel like we don't have a leader?
Posted by homesick1934 on 2/18/17 at 3:35 pm
If you think Obama was a qualified leader, you're dreaming. Experience? Several years as a community organizer (whatever that is) and 2 years as a do-nothing U.S.senator. Nothing else except a glib tongue when using a teleprompter; a stumbling, bumbling incoherent rambler otherwise.
Trump has gotten off to a slow start because of stupid Democrats opposing everything he is trying to do, disregarding the well-being of the USA. But things will get rolling soon and the USA will be in much better shape in 4 years than it is now.
And don't be surprised if Trump does not run again if the country is in good shape and the prospect of a Republican succeeding him is fairly certain.

Blakeney does not play defense. Period.
Notice he never fouls out and rarely has more than 2 fouls per game?
