Apparently the LSU website is wrong then?

Sorry I took so long to reply...I had to contact person who REALLY knows the facts. The wording you cited is correct for the Golden Oaks scholarship for the rest of campus, but NOT for the Tiger Band. Tiger Band members had to pass an audition, have a 3.0 high school GPA and a 26 on the ACT (not the 30 as you have cited). Remember what I said earlier....Golden Oaks (for Tiger Band members ONLY) used to be called "Tiger Band Honors Scholarship." According to the band secretary I spoke with, there were about 80 Tiger Band students on this SPECIAL TIGER BAND SCHOLARSHIP.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE know your facts BRF

The band definitely has not lost any scholarship money

Wow...you REALLY do not know your facts. The band had different pools of scholarship money. ONE of those was tuition waivers that were funded by financial aid. These waivers were taken away in the 2010 budget cuts. These were for Tiger Band members only. PLEASE know your facts BEFORE speaking. I got my info from one of the staff members who worked in the band office.

let this be an awesome moment

The reason it is an awesome moment is BECAUSE of Roy King. This is HIS gesture being returned....Do you disagree with that?
Please stop you ignorance.....The rant is NOT representative of the LSU fan base. I love the Tiger Band and think Roy was a great director. I read in the paper a while back that when Roy took over as the director, the band lost over half of its scholarship money....yet he was still able to keep the band as good or better than it had been in the past. My seats are in the south end zone and I can attest that EVERYONE in our area LOVES the band and their shows. I admit that I like some better than others but I think that is probably a good thing. A show I like might bot be liked by someone else and vice versa. Of course I'm mature enough to realize this.
This is a great gesture by the South Carolina band. Much like last year's gesture by our very own Roy King......We miss you Roy!
