Please explain why divorce is being considered.

I'm told the marriage has been "bad" for many years. But recently my friend has really made an effort to get his act together. He is trying to be a leader, do more than his share, be ahead of everything he can be responsible for, being positive and kind to his wife. I think thier sex life is terrible (he says they havent had sex in months) and she is really mean to him. She does not reciprocate any of his positivity or affection. He says she has withdrawn completely from any effort at their relationship. Classic story in many ways, I assume.

Friend thinking about divorce

I have a friend, of course, who is thinking about divorce. He has 3 kids, all pretty young, and his wife is a stay at home mom. He makes over $100k, I believe. We'll say $135k.

How's this going to turn out for him? Will he have any money left to live on after child support and alimony?

So you're saying its not necessarily stated on your marriage license that you entered into that type of marriage?
Short of actually contacting a lawyer (don't even know one), figured maybe I'd get lucky and the OT social lawyers would know the answer to this odd question.

When I got married 8 years ago, it was my understanding I entered into a Covenant Marriage. (Don't even ask why, etc). Well, as I look now into divorce of a covenant marriage, I see all the prerequisites to enter into it. I don't remember specifically documenting fulfilling these. I went and dug up our marriage certificate (the only marriage documentation I could find) and the words "Covenant Marriage" are nowhere on the certificate.

My question: If you have a covenant marriage in Louisiana is it specifically stated on your marriage license? If not, and there are supplimenting documents (which I don't seem to possess at this point), how do I go about discerning if I truly do have this Covenant Marriage?
