re: Pribula upgraded to questionable

I only watched the highlights but it seemed Beau did not run the ball much himself. That is a big part of his game. Maybe if he was 100% we would have seen more of him making plays keeping the ball.

Passing the interception throw to the receiver that had 3 defenders around was a bad decision.

Some more work with his passing game is needed but he made some good throws. I am not ready to give up on him.

One thing we know about Drink is he shuts down QB controversies quick. Today the starter was ready to play and Eli played him.

re: LSU gonna hire Drink

Why would the plane fly to Columbia Missouri today when Drink is in Norman Oklahoma getting his team ready for a game? At least I think they are all there by now for an 11 AM kickoff.
Missouri fans have been cool with Eli and what he does for the most part.

If he makes a bad coordinator hire on either side of the ball or has his star quarterback get injured at LSU or Auburn they won't care. It will be "off with his head" after 2, 3 or 4 years. He knows that though.

Deboer looks like he is always ready to duck a golf ball or mustard bottle being thrown at him.

OU 31 Missouri 14

Missouri's defense is good. The offense against ranked teams has been bad. This should be an easy win for Oklahoma.

OU 20 Missouri 3.
Michigan beat Alabama in a playoff game the year they won a natty due to a center that made bad snaps at critical times. The Alabama fans said he had done it all year but was still on the field for some reason.

I read somewhere Michigan used the 125 man roster in a new NIL influenced way. They put good players on walk on status but paid them with NIL instead of a scholarship. It gave them depth other teams did not have. I don't know if that is true or not.
Wow thank you I didn't know Brady made the Jets roster. The guy keeps surprising me.

Why was he so good in 2023 and so bad in 2024? Has anything been said on the interwebz about how that happened? His stats were way down in 2024 according to Bernie Miklasz.
All these coaches look like an offensive genius if they have a top NFL bound quarterback. Drink has not had one yet. He has done very well building the program otherwise.

I think Eli's concerns are valid with the NIL. To get that top quarterback last year Michigan had to pay 12 Million. How high will the bidding war go this year?

Lane Kiffin might be able to demand a 10 year 150 million dollar contract. Costs are going up and up and up. Fans do not seem to be checking out over the high cost of a ticket at some schools either.
I would not want Lane at this point either.

The funniest part is that wherever he goes he will treat them like he is treating Ole Miss right now.

Seems like some Mizzou and Ole Miss fans are starting to realize this isn't actually a nEw eRa where they're real natty contenders, as some have previously stated.

LSU just fired their coach because he couldn't beat Texas A&M, Ole Miss, and Vanderbilt anymore.

It may be too early to proclaim a New Era but something is different in the College Football world.
Lol okay I will stop. I'll leave it to the pros to make the hire and be happy.

Do we look dumb if we offer Drink 11 to stay?

It is best to try and keep Drink. Does more money matter to him though.

Eli is the best recruiter we have ever had. How can you replace that?

NIL is great but someone that creates buzz and excitement gets the right Jimmies and Joes.

I'm still thinking Jeremy Maclin but I know that is way outside the box. Maybe impossible for a high school coach. I hope they at least interview him and see what he has to say if he is interested.

People joke about that picture but that was taken after he landed a recruit he had worked hard to get.

Eli does work hard. Something you may not know is he actually seems to enjoy recruiting. We have never had a recruiter as good as him at Missouri and he will be missed.

He is a good coach. He is great at roster building and getting donor support.

The only thing most Missouri fans are starting to grumble about is he has had mediocre offenses 4 out of 5 years since 2021.

Worst of all he does not seem to think there is any problem with his offense. How long that would fly with LSU fans is something you know better than me.

If he ends up at LSU you guys will troll us relentlessly.
I don't want Drink to leave but he would be doing us a favor if he leaves next week.

He will take players with him and the new coach needs time to recover from that. Some teams might lose their coach in late December/January and that will be a nightmare for them.
Mike Leach took a while to get another job to. Which was odd because everyone in the Big 12 was nervous when they played one of his Texas Tech teams. They knew he was a good coach. Maybe he wanted some off time.

Maybe Mike Gundy wants to take some time off before he jumps back in.

The AD will have to get the OK from Sunvold and his committee. That's what happened when we got Drink. Sunvold rejected the first uninspired list.

Thank you I see how it works now. It is still a crap shoot but I like who is holding the dice.
I'm getting cold on any AD making hires. They have their place in the process, but too many make their choice of coach and then sky out for other jobs. They have no skin in the game or accountability. Many will parrot the same retread names over and over.

A committee of people that have been here, and will still be here 5 years from now is best imo. The boosters should have a say to. It could be tough to get all those moving parts to agree on a hire though.

Thinking back to 2021 the season started out with a 2 - 4 record. There was a lot of grumbling even for Missouri fans. The season finished 4 - 2 for a 6 - record and a bowl loss. So Drink does change things and improve.

For this season a position of need was quarterback. Drink went out and got Pribula, Zollers and retained Horn on the roster. Things did not work out but it was not for a lack of trying.
