re: Tigers in Orlandeaux - where to watch the game between Lake Mary and Mount Dora

Checkout Tibby’s in Winter Park or Altamonte Springs. New Orleans style food, and big LSU and Saints joints.
Good point TT. My guess is the rules committees didn’t see this as a safety issue since a screen pass is behind the line of scrimmage. Just my opinion....no facts to back it up.
re: The Ineligible Man Downfield Penalty and Why is it a penalty?

This is a good question LSUBCILUVTHEM, and I researched it a while back. It has its roots in safety for the players. When the flying wedge was made illegal for safety reasons, some other rules evolved from that. One being offensive linemen cannot go downfield on a pass play in order to prevent them from forming a moving wall that receivers can get behind. Two other rules for safety reasons is offensive players can't be moving toward the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped and only one offensive player can be in motion at a time. All three of these were created to minimize the amount of momentum an offensive player can generate, and thereby reduce injuries. Don’t ask me why defenders can be moving toward the line of scrimmage when the ball is snapped, but offensive players can’t. That doesn’t make sense to me. Hope this helps.
This is an interesting question, so I tried to find the answer. Didn't find the definitive answer I was looking for, but it appears to go back to why the Flying Wedge was ruled illegal. Any advantage allowing the offense to create a "moving mass" creates an unsafe situation. Not allowing linemen to block downfield is akin to only allowing one offensive player in motion, and that motion cannot be toward the line of scrimmage. The offense has an unfair advantage, and it leads to unsafe situations.
One Second Left BS

I read the Rant every day, but hardly post so up/down arrows do not mean much to me. I also served in the military 22 years so I worry about more important $hit.
In 2013 Saban bitches to the officials to put one second back on the clock so Bama can attempt a field goal at the end of the Iron Bowl. Outcome is the infamous Kick Six, because his staff $hit the bed and didn't consider the kick might be returned. Piss poor planning on Saban's part.
Now in 2019 he bitches because officials put one second back on the clock so Auburn can attempt a field goal at the end of the half. His complaint is you can't get the kick off in one second if there is a live clock.
How in the hell can Bama attempt that kick in 2013, but Auburn can't in 2019? One second is one second, I don't give a $hit what year it is.
Also, just because your staff is too stupid to sniff out a potential trick play (Auburn runs punter out, but uses him as wide receiver) is no reason to say, "the play is unfair". It was a damn good deception plan and Saban fell for it.
Nick needs to quit $hitting his pants and whining, and take his arse whippings like a man.

re: Great job Coach O!

I agree TigerDavid35, and here's why:
1. LSU won 10 games playing one of the toughest schedules in the country.
2. Coach O has us in the running for a top 5 recruiting class this year, and the 2020 class so far is in the top 5 on 247Sports.
3. We are keeping more players for their final year rather than having them turn pro. That indicates they like playing for Coach O and the culture he has created.
4. With the exception of Matt Canada, it seems the assistant coaches like working for Coach O and he is building continuity in his staff.
5. We don't have to worry about Coach O going to another college program or the NFL because he has his dream job. Fans, players, and future recruits see this and they respect him for it.
6. He has shown to be a very capable at game management and the clock. None of that stupid crap we saw under Coach Miles. Win or lose, he had LSU ready to play every game this year. There was no Troy State type of game this past season, and that shows me he is growing as a coach.
For me, the bottom line is he is doing the things necessary to build our program back to the elite level.
