re: Basketball memories

Ponchy Tiger,

I was there with my two brothers, the older one worked at Dow and me and my younger brother were students. We sat about four rows from the court. After the game we stormed the court. I remember the campus police chasing us all over the court, trying to make the students get off. One cop had a student in a head lock. I ran up to him and said “why don’ t you just shoot him”. He let the guy go and tried to get me, but I was too fast for the pot belly guy. It was so hot we had our shirts off. I remember praying Rick Mattick would make his free throws. What great memories...

My last semester at LSU. I could not talk for two weeks. Lost my voice and damaged my vocal chords. My ears were ringing for 3days afterwards. Worst than sitting on the front row at a The Who concert. LSU grad 1979.

If you find an eating place that has sticky toffee pudding, order it for desert. Wonderful.

Take the guided tour of Westminster Abbey. Truly amazing, full of history.
Agree, the most intense game ever played in Tiger Stadium. Hurt my vocal chords very bad yelling for the whole game. I could talk for two weeks. Same year in Tiger Stadium, Bama 3 LSU 0 in the rain. Both incredible efforts by the Tigers. Mac's last team, my last semester as a student.
Locket is where I took T. Harry Williams' last class.
Back in 1978 and 1979we would have hundreds sleeping out for the big games.

I remember the '78 Kentucky game like it was yesterday. After the game ended I was chased all over the court by the Campus cops..me and about 200 hundred others.

re: Tiger Stadium Dorms

Fall of 1975 by older brother dropped me off for my freshman year at West Stadium Dorm with my duffle bag of clothes. Lived there for two weeks. One morning I awoke to construction crews unloading huge steel pipe piling outside my window. I asked them what was going on and they said "dude you need to move, we starting to build an upper deck expansion"...the first upper deck expansion. That room facing the setting sun each day was hot as hell. Got to move to Power dorm ...the first year they had males. Anyone remember "Albrect's a D***" chants at night?

The same older brother lived in North Stadium a few years before me. He was famous for having a pet nutria in his dorm room. He caught it when it was young and kept it for a while until it got too big to manage. This was written up on the Rant a few years back (maybe in the 2008 link above). He also told me a number of other stories. One was about how the Stadium expansion joints ran thru some rooms, which one year he had. Seems the guy a floor above them would pour water down on his room at night thru the joint. So one night to get even he and his room mate took a cardboard coat hanger tube and some gun powder and made a small stick of you now what and put it directly under the guys wood door with cigarette. Ran back to their room and a few minutes later "boom". Cracked the solid wood door in half. No more buckets of water again.
LSU to the end, and to the core, Sid declined.

Bumper stickers throughout Tiger Nation.....
I don't post much, but for this I had too. 58 years old and crying like a baby.

Sid, you are a true, true Tiger fan! I know heaven will be filled with many Geaux Tigers tonight.

Thanks to the family for sharing!

Thanks to Coach Miles for being who he is and helping Sid during his illness.

Geaux Tigers, win for Sid!
My nephew is on the team. Good luck to Delgado. A few future Tigers are on the team.
He's actually a Brit who has been in Aberdeen for most of his career. It's hard to understand him due to the accent.
Saturday. I would love to have him meet some of our great fans and see what tailgating is all about before taking him to the greatest place to see a football game in the country. Note: I am not looking to take advantage of anyone's tailgate. My friend (who is a character...big fisherman and hunter) is bringing his camera because he wants to take pictures of our customs and festivities after hearing our description of a Saturday on campus before a home game. We both work for one of the super major oil companies with over 30 years in the business. Thanks and Geaux Tigers!
Miss hits go to the warning track....just connect Tigers
