LSU-Ole Miss Series Record

Posted by AsianTiger on 11/15/12 at 3:55 am
The series currently sits at 57-39-4 in LSU's favor. Since the 61-17 beat-down of Archie and company in 1970, LSU holds a 28-12-1 advantage. Prior to that, it was an even series with LSU leading 29-27-3. Ole Miss only won 2 of the next 13 match-ups. Here's the breakdown by decades:

2010's 2-0
2000's 7-3
1990's 4-6
1980's 7-2-1
1970's 8-2
1960's 2-6-2
1950's 3-7-1
1940's 4-4
1930's 6-2
1920's 2-6-2
1910's 4-2
1900's 5-2
1890's 1-2

I'm at 3,916 ranking. Will be sweating it out. I made the cut in 2003 & 2007, but have lost ground since 2007.
There's a reason Hodson started 4 years. He was damn good. 2 SEC Championships. His redshirt freshman year(86) & his junior year(88). That was after not having one since 1970.

As was said before, Jones was handcuffed with freshman being ineligible, Cholly Mac's 2 QB system & playcalling. Otherwise he would be right at the top.
Coach Lloyd was from Raceland and was coaching at Raceland Jr. High with his two brothers(Don & ??)when I first met him. So he was probably on the Raceland High staff before CLHS was opened-up in 1966.
Ms. Labruzzo was my homeroom teacher all 3 years I was at CLHS. Her father was the mayor who got Joe to Lockport. I know all about Holy Savior and JC. I was there until they closed down the high school. I was there for all of the JC games because my brother was a starter in all 3 of those wins. However I believe those were JC's first 3 seasons of football. The first 2 were blowouts like 40-50 to nothing. The last one was like 19 to 0 in 1970.
I am from Lockport and here's what I was told about Labruzzo. He did grow up in Larose-CutOff. However, by the time he was near high school age, the Mayor of Lockport became his guardian and he played his high school years there. He did lead them to a runner-up finish. Mike Hillman led Lockport to back(Class B) to back (Class A)championships just after Labruzzo left for LSU. I believe LCO won a championship at the same time in Class AA with Cantrell and Estay. Two championship schools about 10 miles apart. Good times on the bayou back then.
