Calandro's on Government or Perkins?
Go to Fargo's in Bryan for lunch. It's the best BBQ. Trust.
Taz for Indian food (they just opened a new one in downtown Bryan).

As far as Starbucks, these are drinks that customers made up that the baristas may or may not be familiar with. If you know what's in it, they'll make it. But don't expect them to be familiar with this "secret menu."
She's sort of the UK's version of Paris Hilton. Famous family and became "famous for being famous."
re: what would you want out of the a good BBQ place in baton rouge.

I would take a page from the places I've been to in Texas: order meat by the pound from a counter and serve it simply (white bread, onions, pickles). I think BR places get too caught up with side dishes and other things. It should be no frills. The emphasis should be on the meat.

There are job postings on Craigslist for a new location in Baton Rouge.

Yes. I don't want to see the guy who's supposed to be serving me actively consuming a burrito platter. And I think it was a waitress taking a shot. Just doesn't look good for the professionalism of a (mostly) restaurant that has a bar.
My twice-a-week running group meets at Serrano's (don't ask me why). It's always empty and the decor is straight out of the 90's. The last time I was there, I saw one bartender actively eating dinner behind the bar and another one taking a shot.
My friend told me that Serrano's was also closed post run Sunday evening. This could be telling. I look forward to anything taking over and taking advantage of that prime spot. It has a lot of potential.

My parents live in Hazlehurst. The name of the place is something generic like "Country Steak and Seafood" but all the locals call it "Kanuu's" after the owner. It's pretty good lunch/dinner seafood/soul food buffet. This type of restaurant abounds in MS. There are some good ones just south of Hazlehurst in Brookhaven, MS, in particular, Pappa's on Hwy. 51.
