Very true. FIU has 50,000+ students which makes it the second largest in florida, behind UCF.

Not the Texas A&M we think about, when we say "Texas A&M" but Texas A&M University-Commerce has one.
It is supposedly a quality program for the money, but, I did not look deep into it.

First of all. Keep the thoughts and inputs coming. As I did with your forum, I did with the other university forums and you guys are by far and I mean by far the most helpful.
Mkibod1,
First, there is not a better online MBA option than UNC. As they are very well respected as a traditional MBA (highly rated). That 90k sticker shock did it for me as well.
I looked at your schools, may I suggest you stick to ONLY AACSB accredited universities. There are plenty of them that offer online MBAs. No need to look at the Liberty South New Hamphires of the world when you do have traditional universites that are available online.
I am bias, but, check out Florida International University (AACSB accredited)traditional brick and mortar university with 55,000 on campus students.
Florida State
University of Florida
University of Maryland
Arizona State University
Washington State University.
Plenty more, but, those are a few examples.
University of Florida is the top rated on the above list and price point is very reasonable. Florida State online MBA is a little over 29k, FIU 32k, University of Maryland, ASU, Washington State are a little more costly but not nearly 90,000.
Also, just came to mind is Penn State, Syracuse Northeastern University has online MBAs as well.

I currently work in the corporate office of a big name bank. I am hoping to utilize it to make the move from middle management, in the investment department, to higher management. My work ethic, leadership, and knowledge has been praised.
I am affraid that my undergraduate degree will be looked down on when trying to move up, or, when trying to make a move to a different location.
I am not looking to get into any top 5 investment firm type of situation. Quite happy working in the banking scene at this moment.

Very good point about looking at schools that have regional appeal in the ohio area. I am actually doing that as well in addition to LSU and a few others. I am looking at Ohio University MBA program with a speciality in finance.

"TheHiddenFlask" No, your lame lol. Sorry, just been busy with work.
Thank you for the response.
1) I do not understand number one. Yes, I am doing the MBA online, but, it is not an onlline university. All the universities I am looking at are brick and mortar schools that happen to offer online programs. I can not do a full time in class program as I will not give up work for two years. An online MBA allows me to continue to produce in the office while continuing my education while at home.
2) Thats a shame that LSU name does not even carry weight within Louisiana. I am currently living in Western North Carolina and eventually will like to move to Cleveland Ohio to live closer to family.
I know you hate to hear this, but, doesn't the success of your athletic program at least makes LSU known compared to a university that has similar academics but not an athletic university?
Unless You go to a top 5-10 school. I do not believe the ROI even in a top 25 MBA program will be great. Harvard, Yale sure. Outside of the elite universities, an MBA is not a sure thing any longer. It is nice to have on the resume and can help in your current position to move up or transition to another position but you are not going to be rich with JUST an MBA unless you go to those very high schools.
3)The reason why I want to get an MBA. Part of it is for self satisfaction, part of it is to make up for the stupid decision I made for my undergraduate degree (Sport Management, yes it is actually the sutdy of managing the business of athletics but the stigma of the name just never felt rightwith me and I believe sooner or later it will bite me in the behind as I work up the corporate ladder). Bachelors degree is the new high school degree and I believe to really compete in todays market you have to have an advance degree. Lastly, I just enjoy business and I having the additional knowledge of business and to have that piece of paper certainly does not hurt. The only thing I think it could do is help.
Dewster:
Oh, I certainly know that an MBA no longer is something that will open the door, give you the office by the window making 150k. What separates you from others is what you do as a professional, however, an MBA does at least give you a slight edge over someone with a bachelors degree ( as I mentioend, I believe the bachelors degree is the same as a high school degree years ago).
Thank you for the response.

UNC has by far the BEST online MBA program, by far. The problem is the UNC program is more than double the cost of LSU for example

University of Phoenix? You got to be kidding, well I at least hope you are.
The person stating you would suggest to not do an online MBA and do a degree from a school close to me. The online degree would be from a real university (all my choices are) and not the university of phoenix of the world.
The universities close to me are Western Carolina and East Carolina. I do not want to make that same mistake that I did with my undergraduate. I went to Florida International, LOVE FIU, had a great experience and education. The problem is, FIU only goes as far as the next county. I would like a quality degree from a university that name actually travels.
Does LSU name as a whole and their MBA specifically only travels well in Louisiana like HurricaneDunc mentioned?

LSU online MBA, thoughts?
Posted by fiugoldenpanthers1 on 12/27/13 at 8:45 pm
I am looking at different online MBA programs. I need an online MBA program as where I currently live there is not too many universities and I am going to continue to work while obtaining my MBA.
I noticed LSU moved up 20 spots this past US News Reports MBA ranking, which is quite impressive for a one year jump.
Does anyone have any experience or knowledge of the quality of LSUs MBA program or their business program? Is LSU known for having a quality business school and/or MBA program (I know it is not a top 10 or 20 MBA program)?
Does the LSU name, academically speaking, travel well or not? I currently live in Western North Carolina, and could be moving to Cleveland Ohio soon, to be closer to family.
Any opinions or further information would be very helpful.
