DURHAM, NC – The fifth-ranked LSU women’s basketball team defeated Duke, 93-77, in the ACC/SEC Challenge on Thursday night inside the Cameron Indoor Stadium.

The Tigers are back in action on Sunday, Dec. 7 to face New Orleans. The game will tip off at 3:00 p.m. CT inside the Lakefront Arena.

With the victory, LSU improves its overall record to 9-0, while Duke falls to 3-6 on the season.

The first half was a tight battle, but the Tigers pulled ahead. LSU was trailing throughout the first quarter while Duke dominated the paint. LSU shifted the momentum in the second quarter when LSU senior Flau’Jae Johnson tied the game, 24-24, at 8:59 remaining. LSU senior Amiya Joyner followed with a layup to give the Tigers its first lead of the game. LSU shot 19-of-31 (61.3%) from the floor and 13-of-15 (86.7%) from the free throw line. Duke went 16-of-32 (50%) and just 4-of-14 (28.6%) from deep. LSU closed the half carrying an eight-point advantage, 51-43.

LSU called the game in the second half, extending their lead powered by Flau’Jae Johnson (13) and MiKaylah Williams (12). The Tigers made 18-of-31 (58.1%) field goals, five from deep. Duke recorded 13-of-26 shots for 50 percent with 14 rebounds. The Tigers outscored the Blue Devils, 42-34.

Flau’Jae Johnson had 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and three treys to lead the Tigers. Other Tigers that scored in double figures were MiLaysia Fulwiley (16), MiKaylah Williams (14), Amiya Joyner (14), Kate Koval (13) and Grace Knox (12).

Ashlon Jackson was the leading scorer for the Blue Devils, finishing with 16 points on 5-of-14 shooting and four from the perimeter.

Its always good to kick Duke's butt in basketball, men's or women's. Series tied 3-3.

Flau’Jae Johnson needs to stop shooting her mouth off as she runs by opposing benches. She is a polarizing person, and really needs her social skills to match her playing skills.
