According to a Brett McMurphy report, the SEC is adding a 10th bowl tie-in - The Independence Bowl (né Poulan Weed-Eater Independence Bowl). It will have an SEC team against an ACC team in 2012 and 2013.

No need to get rid of the bowls. The can coexist with a playoff system.

I never understood why the Bowl was bashed for being sponsored by Poulan Weedeater. Poulan Weedeater was a Louisiana company at the time and the Weedeater pretty much revolutionized trimming. Trimming along fences and concrete patios used to be a real bitch.

To LSUChamp. yeah let's get rid of a bowl that brings tax revenue to Louisiana. We really don't need it

While I agree that the bowl system celebrates mediocrity, the Independence Bowl shouldn't be on the list of ones that should be canceled. Most people are unaware that the Independence Bowl is the 10th longest running bowl game in college football.

Sure, bash them for accepting a sponsored agreement from Poulan Weedeater, but props to the bowl commitee for keeping the bowl game alive when so many folded.
