Former LSU player Greg Brook Jr. and his father were recently interviewed by Good Morning America to share the safety's rare form of brain cancer that required emergency surgery to remove a tumor.

In the interview, Brooks Sr. said that he had not heard from head coach Brian Kelly since his son's diagnosis in Oct. 2023.

Kelly held a press conference on Wednesday to discuss transfer portal addition and staff updates and led off by addressing Brooks Sr.'s claims.

"There are many things I can't say, pending litigation, but it is factually incorrect to state that I was not there by Greg's side through this ordeal," Kelly said. "I was there on multiple occasions. There was someone from my staff there virtually every day. We love Greg."

"It was important to me to set the record clear about my care and love for Greg Jr. during this difficult time. "

"You can question me as a football coach, but off the field as a parent and husband, this is where the line is drawn with me."

"That comment struck a nerve with me. It hit my heart."

"I want to be clear: any player who is a part of this program... I am going to be involved in making sure they receive the best care and the best support. And I'm a part of that."
