Planning on taking a hiking trip up there with a few friends. Any reviews, tips, or things we must do?

We want to camp so any advice on that as well would be helpful

Set an outlook alarm for 6 months out next year and hope you get lucky. Camping spots in the popular national parks are like getting concert tickets now. Check to see which parts of the park require a permit for entry and set an alarm for those too.

I would think early summer would be better than fall at Yosemite. Some of the waterfalls dry up later in the summer and I’d expect em to be dry in September.

Crowds are crowds there, you aren’t getting around it. Go early to the places you want to see.

If you want to do a multi-day backpacking hike, a really awesome one is to hike from Red's Meadow to Yosemite Valley on a section of the John Muir trail.

You can leave a car at Yosemite Valley and the ride the park transportation bus over to Mammoth and down to Red's meadow. Then hike 4-5 days back to the car. Need permits obviously and weather might be an issue depending on how late you go.

Here is a link to some photos I saw (not me): LINK

Yosemite may still be the prettiest place I have ever been. I went in May so the spring water was flowing and the vegetation was exploding. Do whatever you have to do to go because it is spectacular.

I'm too old to hike the John Muir trail but if I was younger I would try!!

Should be great in early September. With the tremendous amount of snowfall this winter the waterfalls should still be roaring.
Hiking, hiking, and more hiking is the thing to do here.
take the drive over the top to the east side of the mountains through Toullume Meadows.

I’m jealous as frick. Anyways, if you want to camp, get your permit right now on recreation.gov.

Don’t listen to people about the backpacking permits. The popular ones will be gone but there will be plenty.
