Scottsdale is great. Walk, step into a shop, step into a bar, and repeat all day.

For day-drinking I highly recommend the Coach House, the Rusty Spur and the Old Town Tavern

Yeah, but if you like early morning drinking, Well Bar opens at 6 am, 365 (maybe only 364) days a year.

If you tell me how long your trip would be and what parameters are in place we can come up with a great trip for you.

Parameters are: activities (lounging vs hiking vs shopping vs day trip vs golf vs spa vs sightseeing), budget, and indoors/oudoors/people going (assume just you and wife).

The area is great and you will have a great trip. I moved here in 2009 and never looked back.

What are your thoughts on triple digit temps?

I stayed at the Hotel Adeline. It’s a quaint roadside motel that has been updated beautifully into a boutique hotel. Marriott portfolio.

Lovely pool area and restaurant with bar. In walking distance to Scottsdale Mall and close to downtown Scottsdale and more dining/shopping.

Definitely drive out to Taliesin West.

Spa Lamar is within walking distance:

I bought a Groupon for Mary Lynn’s Day Spa and was not disappointed. Her spa is a converted condo apartment (which is a little weird). But they did everything as promised on the Groupon with fantastic service. I don’t usually put a review on a Groupon, but several Karens had trashed her, so I made sure to write a positive review.

I prefer triple digit Temps on vacation rather than inside of a pressure vessel or by some heat exchangers in Norco in August.

It’s usually end of May that we occasionally see some temps above 100. Otherwise highs are usually in the 90s in May.

If she likes shopping she will love Scottsdale Fashion Square. Huge mall that is really nice and with lots of upscale shops (and your usual mall type stores as well).

Also just walking around Old Town is fun as well. Lots of little shops and art galleries and bars and restaurants to check out.

ETA: there are also a couple tasting rooms in Old Town for some of the wineries in AZ

Dominick’s steakhouse in Scottsdale Quarter.
In your reservation (on open table) ask to sit upstairs by the pool/fountain. I was there last night. Can’t beat it.

I stayed at Valley Ho in August. Walking distance to shopping and restaurants. The room was very nice with a mid century theme. Pool area nice. On-site restaurant and bar nice as well.

Cafe Monarch is great.

Also, Steak 44 or Ocean 44.
Bourbon and Bones is good if you are in Old Town area. Toca Madera is pretty fun too. Upscale mexican food w a party vibe. There is a Nobu at fashion square mall which has good food.

So much depends where you stay. Westin Kierland is also a good spot for walking to shopping but much less bar scene.

If you want to stay at a nice resort w a spa there are plenty of solid options that leave you a short uber ride to old town/fashion square mall.
