Going out to southern Colorado and Southern Utah in October and flights are pretty cheap to book right now, but I don't have travel insurance on my CC for flights.

I know there is travel insurance.com, etc. Thought there might be some good options I don't know that you baws might. Thanks.

For your troubles.

As long as you aren’t flying Spirit or Frontier you should be alright. Those damn airlines have one flight a day so if it gets cancelled you are stuck for days or end up paying more for mainline anyway.

I was thinking more of if I needed to cancel the trip for some reason. Work, sickness, etc.

Squaremouth will give you a ton of quotes. But trip cancellation for any reason will cost more.

Uhh, wouldn't that defeat the point of the insurance in the first place?

Definitely weakens the point. All depends on your estimation of the odds that you cancel.

I get mine through USAA perks(Travel Insured)when I do, but that’s more for the lodging that I book and split with friends than the flights.

Sounds like you want a refundable ticket? Southwest tics are convertible to credit at no charge.

I never buy insurance for hospital:sickness so can’t weigh in there except to say that doesn’t really sound like what you want.

I’ve canceled both Southwest and Delta flights before (Delta four days before a flight and Southwest the day before the flight) and got credit to use on a later flight. You usually have to use the credit within a year.

The question with delta is whether they dock you the $150 change fee. Question is type of ticket, your status, maybe how you paid and sometime who you talk to. SW is always free.
