Headed to Costa Rica next month with a group - United canceled a flight out of BR to Houston which means we miss the Houston - San Jose connecting flight.

We can't miss that one.

United has a flight out of New Orleans that would work.

Any suggestions on how to get them to put us out of NOLA?

Thanks!

Why can't you just change your flight? United doesn't have change fees for most flights and fares.

My first call was with a tough to understand customer service rep who seemed to say we could not move airports - could only change within BR.

I don't have any experience with how airlines operate / what the boundaries are... like what escalation paths there are, etc.

The other option is to cancel and get a refund, then rebook. Since they canceled your flight, you should be eligible for a refund.

Yes if I want to double the flight costs I can cancel and book new flights.

Appreciate it - I know there's guys on here who do tons of flying and know the ins and outs pretty well. Like if there is a special customer service group to ask for or getting put on a different airline even.

Wouldn't mind flying any plane into Houston, then taking the connecting flight on United we have currently.

Try to get someone to respond on social media. I had to do that with my last 2 united flights that they cancelled or changed. the phone csrs were not helpful. The social media people were able to get things done the others didn't want to do.

I don't fly united, but message them on social media. You'll get moved for sure.

Thanks to you both!

Yes, got them on Twitter and after a few DMs got the flights moved. That was awesome.
