Two days in Rome

I’m going to Rome and Florence before a wedding. My wife and I will be spending two nights in each. Right now, we are planning on doing the Vatican keymaster tour. That’s all we have planned. What are the must-dos in Rome or just outside? I was thinking the Sicily-Rome American cemetery might be a good trip. We are into American history.

Just two days in Rome and one is being spent at the Vatican.
For the other day I would see the ruins - The Forum, the Coliseum, and the area around there. Then go to the Pantheon and the nearby Piazza Navona. The Trevi Fountain and the Spanish Steps can also be on the list.
If you are into American history, Rome may not be the best place to look for it. I have been to the American Cemetary outside of Florence, but I would suggest that you enjoy Italy this time and go to Normandy on your next trip.

Yeah you’re not going to have time for the cemetery. There’s a lot to see. With only 2 days book guided stuff imo. Rome is an absolute beehive shitshow so any time you don’t have to wait in a line or deal with insanity is good.
Only 2 days in Florence would suck. Magical city.

Christian Rome and Ancient Rome…then when you go back, you can explore the city…or better yet, visit Tuscany
