Anyone have any insight on these two locations (or any suggestions) that might be good.
We have 5 days to mess with. We've never been to the Baja peninsula before, so it is all new to us, but I'm pretty sure that Cabo San Lucas is not really what we are looking for, so we are looking at smaller towns, less touristy but still have some restaurants and beach bars.
We are planning to stay in smaller hotels or vacation rentals and get around with a rental car.

Think about San Jose Del Cabo. It might be what you're looking for. I didn't find La Paz to be all that great but we only did a day trip there from Cabo San Lucas.

Do you scuba dive? If you do, La Paz hands down. There's a sea lion colony there that you can scuba dive with the baby sea lions.

They're awesome and playful. Will swim with you, play with your fins, etc. I've dove everywhere and it's probably my favorite spot.

TODOS SANTOS[/u]
….is a great town but very small. I’d stay for 3 nights with some daytime activities planned…they are tons. Several good restaurants there and you can take a picture of the now debunked Hotel California. They have a few small boutique hotels there, and from what I remember they were pretty clean and modern. We stayed at Hotel Casa Tota and it had a rooftop deck for sunset cocktails and a space just to chill in hammocks. Sadly, these are the only photographs that I could find of Toto Santos. They are shops and antique stores along with some very impressive art galleries.

Los Cerritos (Cerrito Beach)[/u][/b] is 20 minutes south of todos Santos and is a VERY laidback beachfront town for art enthusiasts and those are wanting to get personal surfing lessons …..again 2 nights max here. They have a lot of small Airbnb homes and trailers that I would not suggest, but I believe this former mansion (massive pic below) is now a hotel, I could be wrong….it overlooks the beach and you cannot miss it, it is absolutely beautiful.

Daytime food at the beach. Staff is super friendly!

LA PAZ is also the same for trip duration suggestion, but it has more small hotels and restaurants. Take a day trip to Balandra Beach, it is definitely something anyone should see who visits the Baja peninsula (I can’t think of anywhere else you might see this). It has massive in the entire thing does not get over 6 feet deep. Even in the deepest parts. There is virtually no current, so it is a very safe place for kids to swim in the water is crystal clear. Here are some pictures below. It is BYOB, and they have guys that will rent you an umbrella for $10 a day and it is well worth it. Don’t get set up too close to the water, surprisingly they have a pretty noticeable high and low tide and all your shite will be a foot underwater if you’re not paying attention.

If youre wondering, I took these with my iPhone 8 Plus…. Theee are no iPhone filters or Photoshop enhancements . It’s that amazing!

We will have two or three college kids with us, so maybe they would prefer San Jose more.

If you want to try to surf you can't beat Todo Santos. Some world-class big waves but also good for beginners too, especially near Playa Los Cerritos. It's a gorgeous area. Got separated from buddies surfing there in the mid-90's in the and held at gun point by federales (said I was trespassing) until I paid them- they wanted $40.

Not yet, but I think we decided 3 nights near Cabo in a VRBO/Hotel type place, then a road trip through Todos Santos/Playa Cerritos on our way up to La Paz for a night to go to the beaches up there. Then drive back to San Jose del Cabo and stay downtown and have dinner at Flora Farms, fly out the next day.

Is anyone familiar with driving to San Jose Del Cabo on the Sea of Cortez side? Is it a nice drive?

Friends just bought property in Todo Santos area and are building a house. They love it down there but I haven't been down there yet. They do say people don't use their headlights while driving at night so keep that in mind.

What is the latest regulation on this? Last I heard, you had to partner with a citizen of Mexico if you wanted to live on/near the beach, otherwise it had to be a few miles away from the beach or some bullshite like that.

Yea, they had to jump though some hoops but I'm not sure what all it entailed. But I think they knew a US citizen there that had his own company that assisted US people in buying property.
