But to the point, these decisions are not being made on science. You yourself said the scientists do not know with Omnicron.
What we do know is the anectdotal early cases have been mild as shite. Yet somehow this has translated to mass hysteria based off speculation of what might happen. Not science, not studies.
You have tried to have it both ways in this thread. You called out one poster for leaning on one study while talking about a matter where in your words they (scientists) know nothing.
Are you under the impression that I have approved of these travel restrictions? Where have I said any such thing? I have never tried to make this thread about my opinions, and I've only given it in response to others, because this is the travel board, and the conversation should be about travel.
But since you have the opposite impression of my views, I will say that keeping families apart by forbidding travel is wrong, in my opinion, when there's not enough knowledge to know that Omicron represents a real threat. If countries want to test on arrival and/or require some kind of quarantine upon arrival, I think that's more reasonable, but I think that what the EU did was wrong, and what the US did in forbidding people from southern Africa from traveling to the US is wrong.
Geez.

Doctor in South Africa that discovered Omicron has already said the symptoms are mild. I do not care about people getting sick with mild symptoms; healthy people ending up in the hospital and eventually dying is the issue. Omicron, based on currently available information, is not an issue.
