Rode over this morning to let the kids ride bikes on the property and walk the boardwalk along the bay. Have been going almost every Sunday as the place is empty and weather has been perfect to enjoy patio and property without the crowds. Pretty much had the entire property to ourselves with a few locals and guests.
Crowds are officially back. Waited in line 45 minutes at lobby deli for drinks and overpriced breakfast items since it was only place open on property to get food/drink. Pool and beach were slammed around lunch time. “Adult only” part of pool was full of kids running wild and from what we saw line at bar was 2-3 deep. Hard to believe people are paying peak season rates right now with restaurants doing take out only and service well below average. But most people seemed to be enjoying themselves and happy to get out of the house.
OP has a point as crowd and property has changed but still see and feel some of the nostalgia walking around the property at least when the crowds aren’t there. Place isn’t bad but it’s expensive and feels less upscale than past.
Visit in Sept/October or April/May to enjoy property and actually relax on the grounds without hoards of people bothering you. You’ll appreciate it more.
