Text messaging via Delta app for customer service

Had a surprisingly good experience with Delta customer service today and wanted to share. I booked a trip for the family on Delta this summer and got an email that they had changed the flight schedule (which is not unexpected given COVID). It put us arriving about 2 hours later after 11pm and also gave us a longer layover. It mentioned that we could look at changing flights if there was an issue with the new itinerary.

I tried several times to use the website to change to another flight but kept getting error messages. The other flights were also significantly more expensive. I tried calling but the estimated hold time was over 2 hours. The recording on the phone mentioned using their app for messaging which I had never used before.

I clicked on the app and found the messaging tab under “More”. I sent a message and it flipped over to the iMessage app. It took about an hour to get a response but after that the issue was resolved in 5 minutes. They switched me to the flight I wanted with no cost to me.

Just wanted to share since this saved me a significant amount of time that I would have been waiting on the phone.

Customer service over the phone has been to me as well.

Glad you found the message us feature, it's been a game changer for me since they implemented it. Like you I had a schedule change and called in, but the lady wouldn't budge and wanted to charge me to switch flights. Online and messaging feature saved the day

I have been very pleased with the level of service provided by Delta when I flew them . That being said, United can kiss arse because they are terrible.

Current hold trying to get an agent on the phone. I started the messaging process at the same time as this call, no dice on either. Yesterday it gave me the option to have an agent call me back within 2 hours. They called me back after 6 hours.

Ouch. I've heard if you call the lines in other countries (like singapore, mexico, france, etc) sometimes those waits will be much shorter. What are you trying to fix flight wise?

Still getting text updates, but no representative.


Cuse, I’ve got a flight scheduled in July and they bumped my return flight back a couple of hours. This will cause me to miss a connection, but they did not update the connection. It’s not letting me change flights on the app or online.

Unfortunately if it won't let you via the app or online then the only options I can think of are the text messaging service, calling the us number, or calling an international number. Twitter might be able to help as well.
