How is Dripping Springs, Zappas? I have a cabin rented halfway between Wimberly and Dripping Springs in January. The plan was to spend 2 days in Dripping Springs, and 1 in Wimberly. Beer, wine, food, and shopping would be the focus.

Thanks. Could we stay there as a home base and just drive to the other places. (And have a good time?)

Is Fredericksburg as bad as Gatlinburg?

Fredricksburg is nothing like Gatlinburg, or Branson. Fredricksburg would be a great home base.

It's ok. It's more of a suburb of austin so a lot more traffic. There are plenty of cafes, breweries, distilleries there. Wimberley is great.

I took it to mean nothing but tourists and shitty shops that cater to them. It's not as developed as Branson, which I've been to.

Oh man......it's been since I was a kid since I was there. But I don't think there is much to it. If you are an LBJ fan his house he grew up in and ranch are nearby but other than that I'm not sure what's there these days

I looked on Google Maps - there's no wax museum or Ripley's. That's a pretty good start.

There is a little shop on Main Street that sells tin signs. That's kinda touristy. About the worst that I recall.

Not a lot to Johnson City...however, Bryans on 290 is a good place to grab lunch or dinner if you find yourself passing through Johnson City.

I second the OST recommendation in Bandera for breakfast. Great place. Also if you’re a John Wayne fan you’ll really like it.
