Bandelier National Monument is a good choice.

Angel Fire is 22 miles from Taos. It is supposedly the best mountains biking in the U.S. and top 3 in the world. I was there last week and it looked like a lot of fun. Temps were 70s during the day and upper 40s early morning.

We go there a lot for downhill biking. It is extremely fun and a really good place. I wouldn't say it's top 3 in the world. It's probably top 3 in the US but likely not top 10 in the world. But.. it's really good.

Here's an edit my son put together of him riding Angelfire last October if you want an idea of some of the more advanced stuff they have out there:

Based on that music I would say your son is 57 years old.

Haha. He’s very into music selection for his edits. That’s one of the things he loves most about putting them together. That song was because he thought it was funny to wear a fluorescent safety vest the entire race weekend.

for family, i think red river is very underrated. great little town. would much rather stay there, eagle nest, and angel fire over taos.

Are the national forests in New Mexico back open? You might double check. I was there at the end of May and everything was closed due to fire danger.

They’re open again. They went from fires to flash floods once monsoon season started.

Most of NM is weird and all the big towns are woke AF. It’s a pretty high desert climate if you’re into that thing.
