SW Question Again…

SW cancelled the 1st leg of my round trip flight and then rebooked me on a flight a day later that I couldn’t make so I mad other arrangements to get to LAS. But I still need the 2nd leg of my round trip but the app is only giving me the option to cancel both legs. So what should I do? Should I just book the flight I need as a one way, cancel my entire round trip, and get with SW later for a refund/payment for the one way?

Once the first leg in cancelled the second leg doesn’t exist for you anymore.

You need to call and have them remove the first part of the reservation from the ticket. This is one of the reasons why I've been booking one-way tickets only since the start of covid

If you can't talk to someone on the phone go to the airport and speak with someone if you can.
Slightly different situation for me.
I had a RT ticket with two segments each.
SW cancelled the first leg of the return RIC-ATL. My ATL-Home flight remained.
I went to airport and had them delete out RIC-ATL so I could drive to ATL and take that segment home.

Cut your losses and book another airline. Do you not understand the magnitude of this situation? Why risk it

Being that I was in the situation a couple days ago, I'll tell you what it's like.
1: he figures out what flight SW is actually flying that he can get on.
2: he has Southwest book him on another airline. They were doing this for others in line with me, but it was pretty time intensive.
3: He books himself on other airlines but they are extremely expensive. Some were $4-$5k for the reasonable itineraries. The decent prices had multiple stops and maybe not even arrive at home airport, just one close enough to then rent a car and drive home, if there are cars available.
4: have everything cancel and drive upwards of 10-20 hours to get home.
So it's not that easy to just "cut losses"

How were they able to do this? I didn't think WN had an interline agreement with any of the major US airlines, which was a factor (albeit minor) in the meltdown

Beats me. They were going into a back room and coming out with non-SW flights. It was weird to me too.
We were joking in line that there must be some kind of black market auction back there with multiple airlines bidding to pick up passengers.
I overheard them say the other airlines and how many seats there were on certain routes etc. It took me about 3 hours to get to the desk when I was basically 9th in line, so it wasn't a seamless process. Must have been ad hoc.
