Fort, Cemeteries, oldest schoolhouse, Fort Matanzas (out of downtown but not far), Lighthouse and museum. Walk around downtown area. Drive down the coast and see the beaches. Food wise, the others mentioned. I would add the Columbia. Enjoy!

In-laws used to live there, so we spent quite a bit of time in the area.

Beaches:

Obviously why most people go. Got out to Anastasia State Park. You can still drive on St. Augustine Beach, so try around Crescent Beach for one.

History

Drive down the beach towards Fort Matanzas National Monument, a historic site located near St. Augustine, Florida. It features a fortified coquina watchtower. You can take a boat over. Some nice beaches down near the inlet. These beaches offer serene environments with soft, white sand and are less crowded compared to others in the area.

LINK

The whole town is a history museum. Just walk around in town. The most iconic fort in St. Augustine is the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument. Built by the Spanish in the late 1600s, it's the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States. Made from coquina, a unique shell-based stone, the fort was designed to withstand attacks and has a fascinating history of sieges and cultural exchanges.

Dining

Have to decide between downtown or the beaches.

Downtown

Harry’s Seafood Bar & Grille. We used to like Raintree Restaurant. The Columbia (original one is in Tampa) for an iconic setting, Cuban style food.

Beaches

Osteen's for seafood. A sit-down, no-frills type of restaurant. On the way out to the beaches.

Sunset Grille on A1A for seafood. Beachcomber Restaurant. The restaurant is right next to the ocean! Great for lunch.

NOTE: On all of these, depending upon the season, day of the week, they can get CROWDED. Go early. Check if they do reservations.

The "No Name Bar" was one of our favorite spots and had non-tourist pricing on drinks.

st Aug is amazing, you get a historic old town with plenty to see/do/eat/drink, a world class amphitheater for concerts and an awesome beach. We always stay at the beach and rent bikes to go to town. You’ll have a great time

two things not mentioned yet you should do are the Saturday farmers market at the amphitheater grounds and the alligator farm/zoo. The latter is especially great and a major surprise as to how nice it is.

at the beach, the beachcomber bar/restaurant has shockingly good food and is a classic beach bar.

the best thing about st Aug beach is…no condo farms. The beach is public all the way and super wide so it’s never the 30A ridiculousness of racing to the beach and staking out territory

have fun it’s one of our favorite places to go. And if there’s a show at the amp, do it.

We always stay at the beach

Vilano Beach is our favorite. It seems there's always a cool breeze even in July.
