hire a car to take you up to Punta Mita or Sayulita for the day ..... some sports bars there and better scene than PV.

I did a search on the PV trip advisor forum for good places to watch college football and El Torrito, Steve's and Los Muertos Brewing were mentioned. El Torrito seemed to be the most popular spot.
