Any users / subscribers here? I think the weekly deals are very legit. Just got a flight to Mexico City round trip for $230. I've used it in the past for Europe flights for $400 round trip.

Does anyone know of any other similar sites?

I follow "Escape Houston". It's a similar service that emails me deals for flights leaving from Houston.

Won't help if you're not from here but they may have something similar in your area.

Kinda useless for New Orleans, of course I'm doing free version. I see flights out of Dallas that are great, just would lose savings going to Dallas

I live in Nola and use it.

Typically international flights are waaay cheaper in other cities, and more times than not you're not flying direct out of Nola anyway.

I've found you'll still save money and not be hurt on time booking 2 separate flights.

That is if you don't mind the extra inconvenience.

If nothing else, it's a good barometer for nationwide flight prices.

I use the premium version. They have good deals that have always turned out legit when I went directly to the airline site to check them out. Unfortunately, none of the deals sent to me have aligned with when I am off from work.

If you're flexible in your ability to travel, it's definitely a site to consider.

I signed up for the premium version, the free version is mostly useless out of MSY as it'll constantly send HOU, DFW, ATL flights that aren't worth the savings.

I've come to find the vast majority of deal sites, tips, and tricks either do not work for MSY or are not worth it

Can anyone vouch for whats the best website for flying out of DFW? Scotts do a good job on that?

Yea, I've had better luck just checking Google Flights or setting alerts on my phone via SkyScanner or Kayak

Did anyone even read my post?

Sure it's still useful even if they don't post flights directly out of MSY.

For instance, I got a flight out of LAX to Vietnam for $480 from Scott's. Any flight from MSY to Asia is going to stop on the West coast anyway, and typically those flights are well over $1,000 directly out of MSY. I saved a ton by booking separate tickets, MSY to LAX (which I actually used SW points for so that was free), then LAX to Vietnam. Even without using points I probably would've saved over $500.

I did the same to Madrid. I bought a ticket from Boston to Madrid for $360 which I saw on Scott's, and simply flew MSY to Boston for a couple hundred bucks. Again, those tickets are usually well north of $1,000 directly out of MSY.

If you're savvy enough it's still useful.

Considering one of those quotes was typed before your post, kinda retarded to quote it.

Booking separate tickets has an element of risk...it's not just about being "savvy".....if you miss that second leg due to the international flight being delayed, you're SOL. Sure, you might get on a later flight, but the second airline is in no way obligated to fit you in. You can easily be stuck buying a walk-up fare to get home, or being ridiculously delayed due to limited availability. For ppl who have fixed return dates due to work or other obligations, it's not acceptable to "maybe" get stuck in another city for an extra day or two.

Whereas, with a full RT all the way home, the airline will make a good solid effort to get you home if your international flight is late. Fly often enough, and you'll appreciate the airline taking care to get you back home. Last flight home from Dublin, I show up at the airport to learn that the inbound flight was still on the ground back at Dulles due to weather. United re-routed me onto Aer Lingus and actually got me home earlier than expected with a connection in a different city.

Split tickets on int'l routes are not for me.

Not to mention if you are bringing check-in luggage, one delay and you can be stuck.

Plus I can go to Google and do the same thing, hell I just found a trip to Brussels for under 800. One way to Washington DC was 110, RT to Brussels was 465, and one way from DC was 95.

However, I would have to pay to upgrade luggage or I would have to be around 900-1000 with a different Airline. Still cheaper than the 1300 that it shows out of New Orleans for the same time period.

Doesn't seem like I want to risk a delay or lost luggage over 200-300 though.

yeah, I meant to post the other one below mine.

And that's fine. Everything you said is potentially true. I make sure I book the flights with plenty of time in between. Worse case you'll simply be buying a walk up domestic flight home, which if you book with Southwest it's not gonna be a huge difference because you can cancel your other flight for a full refund.

I said the extra inconvenience isn't for everyone. I'm a budget traveler so it's worth it for me.

Scotts doesn't imply that you can't find those same flights on your own. All they do is search for flights daily and send them to you. They actually will tell you to go to Google flights to book them. It's simply a convenient service for people who don't feel like constantly searching for the best flight prices.

Like I said in my initial post, if nothing else it's a good barometer for flight prices nationwide. Also if you don't have any particular destination in mind it gives you good ideas for travel and potential price.

I just thought the posters saying it's not useful at all for MSY was short-sighted.

I'm aware of that, however, one issue is sometimes those deals have already expired by the time you are ready to book.

It isn't useful for MSY, because then guess what, you still have to go and do this.

since you needed to find a secondary route. So if you are willing to do that anyway then

It's simply a convenient
is not true

I'm really not trying to argue with you that it's as useful as other cities, only that it can certainly be useful at times.

I just presented 2 examples of how it was useful for me. Finding a domestic flight to a big city is nothing compared to finding cheap international flights.

Literally all I had to do was:

-See Scott's email about cheap flights to Spain from big cities
-Book said cheap flight to Spain from one of the listed big cities
-Book domestic flight to said big city

Do you not think that's more convenient than constantly searching for flights from every individual big city in the U.S. to Spain? I would've never known tickets from Boston to Madrid were that cheap on those dates otherwise.

I get it, you don't find the service useful, and you probably travel much differently than I do, but to state that there is absolutely no use to it at all is being argumentative IMO.
