Yes . . . Make it a two to three day trip. Get the book Maui Revealed and it will give the locations of several off the path water falls.
My wife and I hiked several of these trails and it was an awesome experience. We stayed at a bead and breakfast resort just outside the town of Hana.

Take the desert way back. A bit longer, but great views of the ocean.
