Portugal Potential Border Staff Strikes May 20–22 & 27–29 And June 3-5, 10-12, 17-19 & 24-26, 2023

quote:

The border staff will be on strike during the busy morning hours between 5 AM – 10 AM on May 20, 21, 22, 27, 28, and 29, and the following dates in June 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18, 19, 24, 25 and 26.

These strikes are set to affect all main airports in Portugal and will significantly delay passenger processing at the border for those entering and exiting the Schengen area.

Anyone experience the delays yet? This is very unfortunate.

Maybe its just me but I read your title thinking it was a terrorist thing or something. Maybe should change it to Worker Strike ?

That sucks though, going to be a very busy travel year in Europe.

Not going to Portugal, but would it be better to connect through another European city. When I flew into Portugal from Spain I didn’t need to go through immigration.

that seems like it would skirt the issue, but unfortunately we are flying out from Lisbon to London which is not in the Schengen area.

A Portuguese airport with a worker strike may still be more efficient than New Orleans' airport.
