NOLA for a week

An old friend of mine and his wife are staying in Nola this week. They are asking me for suggestions on things to do/see, and I don't have a clue what to tell them, as I rarely make it past Laplace. The only things I can recommend are the WWII museum and the aquarium. What else should I suggest?

Maybe a river cruise on the Natchez if it’s running. How about a cemetery or ghost walking tour, or a carriage ride through the quarter. They could schedule an airboat tour or maybe visit a nearby plantation. Rent a couple of bikes and just cruise around the city and explore.

WWII Museum could take most of a day
Zoo and Aquarium
Spend a day in the quarter walking around, hitting the little museums, Royal St, French Market
Ride the St. Charles Streetcar out to Carrollton and back. Stop and have lunch along the way.

Been a long time since I was there, but unless something has changed: for lunch, Gumbo Shop on St. Peter Street. If you're facing the cathedral, go left of the Cathedral, and it's on the left side of the street, probably less than a block. Roast beef po-boy.

I usually just recommend restaurant after restaurant after restaurant with a few bars thrown in. An out of towner called me yesterday asking about the live music scene on Frenchmen St. I told him I didn't even know if it was back up and running yet. Anyone have any recs on that?
