Need North Carolina hotel suggestions

Heading up to NC for a couple of days with one night in Charlotte and one night in Asheville.
Charlotte I'm looking for a hotel near night life and the Knights ballpark. We'll be hitting the game and would like either a walk or short Uber back to the hotel to hit up some bars/food.
Asheville looking for somewhere central to brew pubs/night life.
Any suggestions?

Aloft in downtown Asheville is a good option. You'll be right in the thick of things, and virtually next door to Wicked Weed.
There isn't any one hotel I could recommend in Charlotte. Just pick one somewhere Uptown. Everything worth seeing in that area will be walk-able enough. Charlotte has a nice downtown area.

Stay in Southend near the light rail. Tons of brewpubs and interesting places.

In Asheville, the Aloft is located downtown near restaurants and pubs.

Second the Grove Park Inn for pure history and beauty. LINK

I’m typing this from the Doubletree in downtown Charlotte right now. Went to the Knights game tonight and walked back. Had I chose to bar hop it would have been an easy Uber back.
I stay in Asheville for work so those downtown hotels are out of my company’s price range. I have a corporate code that will put me a mile from downtown at the Tunnel Road Hampton Inn. When I go for pleasure I use the company rate at the Doubletree, it’s near Biltmore Village and a cheap Uber ride downtown without the hassle of trying to find parkIn.

Hilton Garden Inn on College Street. I've stayed there the last two years I've gone to Asheville and will be there again soon. It has a little shuttle bus that takes you to the heart of the South Slope brewery district. But all of it is in walking distance from that hotel anyway.

Stayed at the Grand Bohemian in Asheville. Nice property in the Biltmore area.
