What a snobby remark

I think he meant in Italy. It is a long way to go for what is essentially a short vacation. Most topics here about trips to Italy are for much longer stays.
Enjoy it! You’ll want to go back.
I disagree with the other poster about Capri. Except for the fact that it’s just about the single most expensive place in Italy you could choose there are some things to do. You can take the cable car from Anacapri to the top of the mountain which has stupendous views and hike down. You can explore Anacapri which isn’t nearly as touristy as the town of Capri below. You can take a boat to see the blue grotto. You can spend money shopping in a shopping district that rivals Fifth Avenue or Rodeo Drive. Be forewarned, Capri is $$$$$$ expensive.
How big is the wedding party? That’s a hell of a lot of money to be spent to go there and stay on Capri.
ETA: I don’t believe you posted where you’re flying out of to come back home. That would have a big part in where you go.

We will be in Italy for 9 days including the wedding. I've done many similar length trips in Europe and I'm ready to go home after that long.

Haven't booked the flights since it's like 11 months away. Can fly back from wherever. I'll be flying out of iah so I can get home from wherever fairly easily.

What I meant by the 6 day comment was that with that amount of time I would stay in the Amalfi Coast area. If they had twice that much time I would send them to Tuscany and Venice. Can't go wrong either way.

I would just head back to the Amalfi. Three days in Ravello and then wrap it up in Positano for the last few days. Treat yourself to Le Sirenuse when you're in Positano. Eat at their Michelin Star restaurant.
Eating at La Sponda in that hotel Monday night. Anything we should know in advance? Anything to request? Made reservations a while back. I’m in Positano all week.

Archeology sites/Museums, Wine and Pizza! I have not been south yet, but I teared a little coming off the subway and seeing the Coliseum the first time. Saved to add for the next trip. Thanks!

The south is fascinating....especially if you bother to go beyond the heavily touristed towns. It's worth remembering that Italy is a patchwork of regions with very different food & (often) accents. Many US travelers stick to the same old stuff because they refuse to learn any Italian, or are not comfortable being in places/settings where limited English is spoken. This is a shame...a couple weeks on DuoLingo and a decent translation app, plus some courage, and you can enjoy so much more.

quote:Spectacular place. The food is delicious but what stands out most to me is the atmosphere. Instead of candles it is lit by 400 candles. There are large windows overlooking the Mediterranean and the Positano hill. Try to get a window table. The outdoor terrace is also great for cocktails. We did not stay at the hotel but we spent so much time in the bar and restaurant the staff thought we were staying there.
