When will Southwest open up flights that far in advance, does anyone know?

Southwest Schedule Release

They will give the date for your flights after they do next release on the 14th. I'd bet it will be in another month or so before they release October.

We are currently accepting air reservations through August 4, 2024. On December 14, 2023 we will open our schedule for sale through October 2, 2024. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

yeah based on that it seems like it'll be into January (if not later) before those dates open.

This may be minor, but the schedule isn't completely and totally OFFICIALI suppose until this Wednesday when it's announced on the ESPN show. So even if this isn't relevant at all, mentally I still feel like I wanted to be "early" and book prior to then to try to beat some others that are waiting for the accounemnt. One way flights that Sunday from Austin to ATL were just absurdly high. The cheapest I could find for my wife and I was almost $2300 for both. I ended up going ahead and just booking a one-way from San Anotnio for like 1/5 of that.

Update: hotels were insane so we booked a whole house Airbnb in the Domain for pretty cheap. I'm REALLY hoping the owner doesn't wise up like 9 months from now and cancel it when they realize they could probably get 4x what they listed it for. Oh well.

Had that happen to me recently. Booked a house for the Waste Mgmt open for 4 nights, Thurs-Sun and the price was around $9,500.

Paid the deposit which was half of the stay only for the owner to come back a month later and ask me to stay the entire week. We declined so he refunded the deposit because they wanted someone to stay the entire week. He should’ve put a minimum night stay for his place during the time of the tournament but he didn’t. Pretty lame

Austin area update:

I-35 between Austin and SA is rotten garbage and will be that way for the next few years minimum. Spent 2-hours sitting on 35, most at dead stop.

Austin ABIA airport also undersized and disorganized. They spent years doing construction on it. Now it’s open and still is a cf.

Security is also undersized and disorganized. Pre-Check is no relief as it’s typically longer than the regular line.

Food quality and service is way down and never recovered from Covid. Every place is understaffed and the staff that is there acts like it’s their first day on the job or first job ever.

TLDR- Austin is a size 13 but still trying to stuff itself in an 11 shoe.
