I am going there for a conference and looking for best things to do and places to eat.
Staying at the Gaylord. According to the Food Board the restaurants there are not good.

No. Nothing at all. No live music. No bars. No restaurants. No museums. No sports.
I'd skip the conference and stay the hell out of that boring arse town. They roll the sidewalks up at sunset.

Ok that’s everywhere.
Sports? Please.

Titans suck this year

What time of year will you be there? Predators (NHL) play right down by the Country Music Hall of Fame. Titans stadium is an easy walk across the pedestrian bridge from Lower Broadway. I think the Sounds (minor league baseball) Just moved into a new stadium down by the capitol. Nashville MLS team plays at the fairgrounds which are southeast of downtown.
Country Music Hall of Fame is really nice. Add in the Studio B tour. Tour the Ryman; if possible, see a show there. Go see the Grand Ole Opry. Even if country music isn't your thing, to be in the audience for a show that has run over 90 years and probably now close to 2000 shows is cool.

Is this the only measure of "something to do"?

I sure hope OP finds something else to do besides only attending his travel ball manager’s conference.

I'd try enjoying not being in Atlanta for a couple of days. Shouldn't be hard.

Obviously a troll post. Nashville is a one of the top tourist destinations in the US.

Yes and Florida Georgia Line sells a ton of records.
I prefer places where glitz and people are not the main things to see.
I would have the same question if I was going to Charlotte, Dallas, etc.
The Parthenon seems to be a major attraction.
Thanks to those with suggestions. Sorry I offended some of more sensitive who must have some emotional connection.

You sound miserable.

Burgess Falls is nice for a light hike, if you are into that. Kind of a drive, though.

Why don't you suggest some interests of yours instead of simply asking, "is there anything to do?" No. There is nothing to do...
The Country Music Hall of Fame, African American Music Museum, Johnny Cash Museum, RCA Studio B, tour the Ryman, Grand Ole Opry, Frist Art Museum, Tennessee State Museum, The Hermitage, Cheekwood Botanical Gardens, Nashville Zoo, The Parthenon, Lake Radnor, downtown Franklin, Lieper's Fork, Lane Motor Museum, Tennessee Titans, Vanderbilt Commodores, Nashville Predators, Nashville Soccer Club, tour Vanderbilt and Belmont, catch live music, tour breweries and distilleries, eat at good restaurants and cocktail bars...

That’s a good point. Should have done that.
Thanks for your list.

Nope. And if I was going to San Diego, Seattle, Phoenix, Charleston, Chicago, New York, Boston, Portland (OR or ME) I’d be pretty excited.
Looking for some reason to look forward to Nashville. I’ve got some ideas now at least.
People are offended, not because of my question, but because I said “stuck going there.” Bad choice of words.

I don’t think you know the definition of offended. You asked a stupid question and people gave you a hard time.

I phrased it very poorly. A hard time was deserved.
We will have a great time. We always do wherever we go. It’s just not a place I’d choose to go without a business purpose behind it.
I don’t know why anyone would choose to come to Atlanta for leisure either.

because its beautiful, there are HOTTER WOMEN in the gulch than the QUAD, the weather is amazing, the trees are in full fall colors, the restaurant scene is insane and in general downtown is loaded with rooftop bars and clubs.
what was the question again?

It’s fine. It will be nice to walk around, but there are many many more scenic cities.

Haha! I’m a bit old for that to be a big allure. Creepy.

Weather is beyond perfect where I am.

Ya it appears this will be what we will do. I can only eat and drink so much though.
Probably catch the Georgia game at The Valentine.
Sadly, LSU watch site is a lame sports bar by Opryland.
I fully admit I have a bad attitude about this.
1. Only going because I have a 2 day conference there.
2. I have too dang much work to do to be gone for the weekend before the conference.
3. I’m not a big city guy when it comes to getaways.
But we will have fun. Always do.

Don’t sweat it man. Nashville is a great town and even if you don’t plan ahead you can find plenty to do. I’m of the mindset that even though I absolutely love my home, being on any kind of getaway is always a nice break to the routine.
