Headed to that part of France and Germany for a party in Cochem. Was curious if anyone had any off-the-run recommendations. All stuff with families. TIA!

I stayed in Cochem for 1 night a few years ago. I am not going to lie, I do not remember the names of anything.
But it was insanely beautiful. You are going to love it

Drive up and down the river hitting up all the individual towns which have their own distinct Weinstubens (wine bar) along the river. Enjoy the rieslings. Eat some fried German Brown Trout. See the big castle, I forget the name. I've never overnighted in the Moselle Valley, it was always a day trip from Frankfurt.
ETA- Cochem is where the big castle is.

Burg Eltz is something to behold.
It is definitely a must

I went there (Burg Eltz) in the 90's as a teenager, bought the giant poster and it hung in my room for years. I haven't been to my dad's house in years but I bet it's still hanging up in there.

The only place I have been to on the Moselle is Koblenz, Germany at the point where the Moselle meets the Rhine. It is a quaint and historic town and the riverfront promenades are nice to stroll, but the main reason to go there is that it is the starting (or ending) point for viewing the spectacular scenery featuring the castles on the cliffs overlooking the Middle Rhine.
Beautiful area.
