Highly recommend spending at least 1/2 a day in the village of Monticcheillo. It's in the Val D'Orca, and it's a tiny hilltop town of maybe 200 people but with some amazing food and views. Definitely off the beaten path but well worth it!

Remove San G. and add to Montalcino?
I would agree with this. I love going to San G. I have been there twice because it is a 15 minute drive from where we stay. But it can easily be done with a day trip. Go for a few hours, see the 14 medieval towers that are still standing, climb up the hill to the old fort which is now a park and admire the views, have lunch in La Cisterna Hotel on the main square.
Montalcino is a more substantial town for overnight stays.
Wine-
San G. produces a light and tasty white wine, but Montalcino produces Brunello, one of the great wines of the world.

I would like to thank you immensely. Barolo is nothing short of incredible.

My pleasure. Barolo is one of the great wines of the world. Can’t wait for your trip review.

Barolo or Brunello?
Both are great but Brunello is what you get in Montalcino.

He’s talking about Piedmonte region. And yes, Brunello is fantastic as well.

Okay. I thought he was talking about the enoteca in the fort in Mantalcino.

La Fortezza. One of my favorite places in the world.

Varenna is really nice.
Indeed and reasonably priced and less touristy

Absolutely will.
You have any recs for particular vineyards to check out here? I was told to stay away from the actual town of Barolo because it’s over priced and not any better than the immediate surrounding area.

We really liked Cantine di Verduno. Their wine cellar is amazing.
We stayed at Agritourismo Cascina Meriame. Paolo Manzone makes the wine and his wife runs the operations. Very good wines and they take their time with your.
