Thinking about heading there in July with the wife and kids. What are some good recommendations? Kids are 12, 12, 4.

Tailing....heading there in April.

Likely staying at Lake Powell Resort (looks reasonably priced and will have done Zion during the day, crash, then Grand Canyon the next day)....

Went when I was a young teen...so looking forward to bringing the fam back and making new memories!

Priced that way for a reason. Restaurant options are weak. It's a place to stay and has a pool but it's nothing special. But you arent there to spend all day at the resort anyway.

The lake is beautiful, definitely do a slot canyon hike. Wahweap boat rentals is a pretty shitty organization all around, but I definitely recommend you rent a boat from somewhere.

In my experience all customer service everywhere was shite, but I'd go back again anyway

good to know.

We are legit just crashing the night there, waking up before sunset to watch sunrise...so pretty much use the pool possibly if heated that night? then dive into more hiking etc the next day.

Most of our hotels on that trip we arent looking to get much out of other than a safe place to crash.

Used to be a Lake Powell regular then after about a 15 year hiatus made it back there last May. I strongly recommend checking out Horseshoe Bend close by and kayaking the Colorado River below if you can. We viewed from the lookout the first night there and then kayaked Horseshoe Bend/Glen Canyon down to Lees Ferry. It was absolutely gorgeous and we will make it back next spring. We didn't stay at Lake Powell and instead camped at the Lees Ferry Campground and drove to Lake Powell for more kayaking and hiking Lower Antelope Canyon. Again, just gorgeous scenery. You will love it.
