Any good places to try for lunch and dinner? Also, any cool little places to check out while in the area?

You can play roulette at one of the casinos or by driving over the I-10 bridge. Other than that I've got nothing.

For lunch: Darrell’s

Order the special with jalapeño Mayo

There are lots of nerds on here who will crucify me for saying that, but if you’ve never been, it’s actually a pretty cool spot to go once

Darrell’s special with jalapeño Mayo is hard to beat. Great to have on the boat for lunch when smacking trout.

Gordon Ramsey's Steak. It's new. I haven't been, and haven't read any reviews. I am sure it is expensive, and hopefully delicious.

Fine Dining (stay away from the chain casino restaurants):

Mazen's for dinner. Best fresh fish you will ever eat and get the crab crepes for an appetizer and grand marnier soufflee for dessert. Thank me later.

La Truffe Sauvage is a high end French restaurant with great food.

The Villa Harlequin has good steaks.

Pujo St. Café is a good local spot for dinner.

Restaurant Calla is a good drink spot and decent food.

Seafood Palace for lunch. Hole in the wall fried seafood and good boiled crabs (in season).

Nina P's Cafe is a good spot for lunch.

121 Artisan Bistro is good Italian for lunch or dinner.

Bottega has good pizza and happy hour.

Darrell's has good unique po-boys. Love the jalepeno mayo on any po-boy.

Stay away from Steamboat Bills - tourist trap.

Lebanese/ Med food- Togo's

Great shrimp burger (grilled) "Venus"- cool spot in downtown or one off of Nelson south of town- Luna's

BBQ- Paul's Rib Shack (better ambiance but more expensive) or BBQ west (old coverted fast food place, but more bang for the buck)

Great Burger- Calla
