They had a terrible earthquake in 2015 and are still rebuilding. From what I've read most of the efforts have been on housing.

Did you do Everest base camp and Kathmandu, or Kathmandu by itself

So as far as gear I am good to go I think, only thing I need is the flight to Kathmandu. As far as prep I plan to hike as much as possible, can’t really prepare for the elevation. I did inca trail in 2019 and that elevation didn’t bother me, but this is a good bit higher. I’ve watched a bunch of videos on the trek, but I really won’t know how I deal with that altitude until I get there

If u have the option spend an extra day at Namche and Dingboche or Lobouche. And take Diamox twice a day starting 2 days before you fly to Lukla, you’ll be fine

About five years ago, I was planning a photography trip to Kathmandu, with an over night trek to the bazaar, where you can first see Everest. Of course I planned it for 2020 and Covid hit.
So you are going all the way to base camp? That’s a hike (no pun intended). More power to you.
Kathmandu looked awesome, a photographer’s dream. I just wasn’t thrilled about the flight to the airport you go to to start the trek.
