Mid December trip in the works, just my husband and I. Flying out of Houston most probably. Recommendations for lodging, activities, vehicle needs during this time of year. We don’t want to ski but maybe snow mobiling as well as visit the parks. Will only be there 4-5 nights. Thanks and geaux tigers!!

What do you mean visit the parks? If you go the week before the Saturday before Christmas it can be a great time for budget travel there.
But there’s likely going to be deep snow. Yellowstone will be shut down best I know to anything outside of snowmobiles.
Plenty to do for 4-5 days, just understand what the conditions will be.

Snowmobiling - you can do a guided tour in the park, but it’s more fun outside the park. You’re not just playing follow the leader, in a single file.
Elk Refuge - The elk will migrate down into the valley.
Cross Country Skiing - you can rent skis.
Snow Shoes - the same.
Rental Cars - just get something at the airport. Nothing will come with snow tires, but the valley floor is flat and the roads are well kept. Four Wheel drive would be nice though.
I was surprised by the number of 2wd vehicles, and the number of sedans in the valley. But you don’t need anything more than that.
Hotels - it really depends on your budget. How much do you want to spend?
You do have the choice between staying in the village, where the resort is, or town. If you’re not skiing, then I’d stay in town.
The more expensive hotels will have concierges who will build your stay for you. They’ll suggest activities, and book your reservations. It’s a convenience.
