If you have a international destination in location A but have a layover in location B, how do the Covid restrictions apply?
Example, Houston to Maldives and secured all necessary arrangements to get to/fro US/Maldives. But it’s not a direct flight. 5 hour layover in Turkey. Will the Turkish Covid rules impact you? Assuming you are never leaving the airport. Or do you need to research all the rules entering and leaving Turkey?

I'm going to the Maldives in a week. Through Doha on Qatar Airways. Generally, since you will not pass through customs, the restrictions of the transit country are immaterial. Go to the IATA website and enter your itinerary and passport information. See link. It will tell you precisely what documents you need to transit. In any event, the Maldives require a negative PCR test within 96 hours of departure, which will satisfy most countries. Although some require 72 hours.

Good deal. But if you leave airport and spend 3 days in Doha, You would be subjected to the rules of Qatar, correct? Otherwise, you good?

Yes, I believe that is correct.

It varies from airport to airport.
I had no problem connecting through Amsterdam in November though I would not have been allowed into the Netherlands.
People transiting through the US are required to have a covid test, even if they do not enter the US.
You have to check the policy of the specific airport and country.
