First off, I have never heard of COPA and no one I know has heard of COPA before. Can someone give some insight on the flight or airline?

I’m leaving New Orleans, July 12, at 6:55 am and landing in Panama City, Tocumen at 10:49 AM. Then leaving Panama City at 12:30 and landing in Costa Rica at 1:10 (I think it’s actuallu 2:10 with the time change). Should I expect any issues with this? Can anyone tell me about the Tocumen airport? My buddy started making me feel uneasy about this flight so I come to this board to see if anyone can give me some insight. TIA

Panamanian Star Alliance airline based out of Panama City.

Only flight with fatalities occurred in 1992.

For a long time they piggybacked off United's FF program MileagePlus but recently started their own.

I would fly them in they were an option to where I was going.

And though I haven't been to Tocumen, as long as you aren't delayed you'll have plenty of time.

No need to feel uneasy.

Copa is the national flag carrier of Panama. They're a good airline. Been around since the 40s. You'll get a free checked bag and alcohol even in coach. I think they use a 737 on the New Orleans route so that's pretty familiar.

They're a member of the star alliance, so you can earn points with your United account.

Tocumen is built for connections and isn't super spread out. English is readily spoken around the airport.

COPA is fine, I've flown them 3 times with no trouble.

Sit in a window on the left side of the plane headed into Tocumen and you'll get a view of the Panama Canal entrance and Panama City - pretty impressive view. Tocumen is OK, pretty new with some construction still, it's COPA's hub so it can be crowded. COPA is a much larger airline than people realize; they cover all of central and south america.
