I-26 close to Asheville used to be miserable. They have sort of finished it, only to start where it ended and mess up all the way to the South Carolina state line.

Yesterday we saw a sixteen mile long slow conga line of cars and trucks.
What was worse for someone passing through, most the the signs describing exits, even numbers of the exits were missing.

We chose to take US25 from Greenville SC up through Asheville where we picked up I 26 into Tennessee. A more pleasant drive that I-40 through the mountains, and a lot less traffic. (Then 11W to the southwest towards Knoxville.)

Whoever decided the whens and hows of repairs to I-26 should have to drive it daily for the rest of his cursed life.

I drove I-26 south from Asheville to Charleston last week, and encountered no unusual problems.
